Late night babbling

I think the weeks must get longer as you get closer to Christmas - I'm counting it down now, 8 working days till I get 11 straight days off. Heaven! I still don't know about the new job, I got a second interview, and now it's a 50-50 tossup. I hope they let me know before Christmas, cause I don't want to spend my 11 days wondering...
See, I'm babbling! I thought I'd squeeze one more card in, but that means that this posting may not make much sense as it's now 11:15 and I've been up since 5:30am. I used a new set from CTMH, (well, new to me, since it's actually retired!) and then found this cute skating paper from Sandylion. The sketch is Unscripted, the colour are SPCC and I added some glitter for Pile it On. They're having a DT call, so I've got my fingers crossed as I'd love to be on a DT. Mind you, I think I glittered both submsissions the same way, good thing I've got another week or 2!

The aliens are coming!

When I saw the sketch from CPS, I thought of outer space, (who wouldn't?) so I found a cute digital stamp from Doodle Dragon, and made a simple, fun card. With 2 little boys who manage to get invited to a lot of parties, it's important to have "boy" cards available at short notice. This is super easy, but fun! The colours are from the Shoe.
I've also posted a simple layout of my little guys 4th birthday - sorry for the glare, I have to work out a better way to take pictures inside. I've been propping cards on the BBQ all summer, but we've had 20+ cm of snow here today, that's out of the question! I am going to try and post more layouts, I do manage to make more than cards sometimes!
Anyway, off to shovel snow, since DH broke his finger, he conveniently can't shovel. Darn!

A Purple Christmas

I'm not sure what's more purple, my card for SPCC or my husband's finger! He fell off the ladder while putting up Christmas light yesterday, only 2 rungs thank goodness, but busted up his finger. He's not quite ready to see the funny side of it yet, but I find the giant splint on his finger quite amusing!
I wasn't sure about the SPCC colours, violet and red? Ended up doing another Christmas card, I have amassed quite a collection, which will be good when I need one at the last minute. The sketch is from JUGS, and both Pile it On and Stamp Something were looking for bling. I am well aquainted with the bling, I glittered all my Christmas cards on Sunday and wow, I'll be sweeping up glitter for a long time I think! Ps, the dragon is from Doodledragon Designs, my fave!
Speaking of my Chrismas cards, here they are! I used Jingle Creative Basics paper from CTMH, a bunch of CTMH Christmas stamps and several Martha punches, love em! All ready to address and mail out, ugh. Doesn't matter whether you buy them or make them, you still have to write something in them!
(Have to get credit to Laurel Seabrook, Bren Yule and another fabulous CTMH consultant whose name I forgot to write they, they provided the inspiration for my cards!

Hey all my sadly neglected blog friends! Whew, November is over and I can relax and be zen. Well, maybe not zen, but I can at least downgrade from frantic to my everyday crazyness! I'm still waiting to hear about the new job, they're doing another interview on Monday so I won't find out for awhile. Que sera sera, there's nothing I can do about it but relax, right?
I'm looking forward to Christmas and decorating - I'm just about done all my cards, I'll post them soon. Went scrapping last night with my girlfriends and got a couple pages started and a card done - I think I managed to make 5 challenges with this one!
The sketch is Unscripted, the colours are from the Colour Chef, the Cuttlebug Spot has a winter theme, Crazy 4 Challenges is doing punches and Cooking with Katie has a recipe that includes red, brads and three of something. I think one of my white snowflakes fell off, cause I did have 3 I swear! Paper is Just Chillin' and the stamp sets are Holiday Jingle and Snow friends from CTMH.
See you soon! (I promise!)

A frosty card

First up, a big Happy Thanksgiving to all my Southern neighbours. Hope you're all enjoying your turkey and getting set for shopping tomorrow. We don't have anything like Black Friday here, although there are some good sales now it's closer to Christmas. Can't believe it's almost December, November has just flown by. Still no word on the job, hopefully I'll hear tomorrow, cause I'm starting to get a little antsy. (Just a little, hah!)
I've been busy though, I've done most of my Christmas cards (I have 6 more to make, then I have a major date with a glitter bottle!) and I managed to sneak in this card. There's so many fun sketches out there, thought I'd play along with Mojo Monday for this one. The colour combo is from the Colour Chef, very frosty and cool. Very simple, a little ribbon, one of my cute new Stampin Up stamps and a button.
I'll fill you in on the job tomorrow, (I hope!) happy shopping everyone!

I love this sketch!

Clean & Simple came up with a great sketch this week, I don't think I've ever had a card come together so quickly or easily, and had it look so good! I used CTMH Rustic flowers and Thank you stamp sets, and cut two flowers out with a Nesties die and added buttons. Easy! The colour combo is from JUGS, and I made a Thank you card for Stamp something.
In other happenings, my crop went well, not as many attendees as hoped, but we had lots of space and had a good day. I think the interview went well (I hope!) and now all I can do is sit back and wait - not something I'm usually good at, so I better distract myself by making some cards! I'm much more relaxed this week, so time to get back and get crafty, I've got Christmas cards to make!

Hoppin' away...

This little gal sure is cute! I finally caved and bought some Stampin' Up stamps, I'm going to mount them on Easy Mount and give the blocks to my kids! I love their artwork (not quite as much as CTMH!) and I think I may have to get more...
Anyway, there's a ton of stuff going on in my life, I've worked 11 days straight, with one more to go, I'm hosting a crop on Saturday so I've been running around like crazy, and to top it off, I have a job interview tomorrow, aargh! It's for another position in my company, but I'm freaking out cause it's been 10 years since I had to do this. Mind you, I did get a new outfit out of it!
And I still managed to make a card! This is a (very!) loose interpretation of the Sweet sunday sketch, and the colour combo is a fun one from SPCC. (I almost forgot - I won a challenge at SPCC, and then I was too busy to crow about it. Nuts huh?)
Hope your week is a little less crazy than mine, see you all later!

Back from beyond

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around this week. I volunteered to do inventory at work, which required staying late several evenings and working all weekend. Needless to say, nothing else got done, which meant by Sunday night my house was a disaster! Things are mostly back to normal now, but boy, I sure can't wait for the weekend to get some rest!
I managed to sit down and make a card last night, I used a sketch from Card Patterns, a colour scheme from the Colour Chef and a recipe from Cooking with Katie. (flowers, clear shapes and a sketch) Just a very simple card, but I like how this turned out. The black flower border is a fuzzy adhesive tape I got from a dollar store and now I'm kicking myself I didn't get more, cause it's so nice. The clear shapes are from CTMH, as is the cardstock. Also, Just us Girls is looking for embossing, it added a nice touch to my squares.
Hopefully, I'll have more to post tomorrow, but I'm hosting a crop this weekend, so at some point I have to get ready for that. (I forsee a very busy Friday night!) See you later!

Imagination vs. reality

Let's just say reality won this round! Hee hee, it's actually not a bad card and I like the design, but the toilet paper just did not work like I wanted. Yes, you read that right, toilet paper. Blame it on the Everything but the Kitchen sink challenge, which I found recently and thought would be fun. Hmmm...
So here's what I learned:
1. Toilet paper doesn't tear well. or in other words, it tears too well and not where you want it.
2. Separate your plys first, otherwise they may come apart later when you don't want them too.
3. Toilet paper sticks well to paper, but it's very hard to glue more TP on top. It tends to rip and tear when you try and add adhesive on top.
4. I will probably not be using TP on my cards again!
In all fairness though, this was a neat challenge and certainly made me think outside the box. Can't wait to see what's up next!
I did use a sketch from Sweet Sunday, a colour combo from Frosted designs, and it's Christmas-y for Scrap or Dare.
Darn, I just missed the deadline for the kitchen sink, gotta start earlier on the next one.
PS, I'm working inventory all week and weekend, so I may not see you much - hopefully I'll post more next week!

TGIF

Well , it's been a long week, time to relax. Friday night is my fave, we come in, dump everything, then sit on the couch all night and do nothing! I've snuck away to put up a quick post as the computer seems to be cooperating for now. DH has been stalking the Dell website, trying to decide what features he wants, I hope he decides soon, this computer is on it's last legs!
I made this card for the Just us Girls challenge, which was to use a photo. I thought it would be fun to make a card to use with those all those little wallet photos you get, except the boys just had their re-takes done and I don't have any wallets, so I just made one. Whatever works, huh? I did miss the boat on the deadline for this one, but I'll put in anyway, cause I quite like the card.
The sketch is from CPS, which I turned to fit the 'photo' (and also for the Scrap or Dare challenge) and the green scheme is from the ABC challenge. (G for green) Paper, stamps and bling are CTMH, the buttons and flowers are from my stash, and the ribbon is from my ever growing collection from WalMart. If anyone has any ideas for storing multiple rolls of ribbon, let me know!
Have a good weekend, see you later!
(PS, there's some good candy over at Stamper On the Shore - Check it out!)

Unconventional Christmas Colours

Aargh, bear with me for a moment while I rant and rave - I had to redo my whole post cause Blogger would not upload my photos. Ugh. (I've also learned from experience that you can't copy and paste links!)
Ok, nuff' ranting, just thought you should know why this post is so short, I'm too frustrated to do more! Quick couple cards, first one is a Christmas Colour Combo from SPCC. (I just can't wrap my head around orange and blue, although I tried!) Sketch is from Sweet Sunday, and the fuzzy (ok, prickly) hedge hog is for Stamp Something. Hedgehogs are Penny Black, Noel stamp is CTMH, paper is Sandylion.

Next up we have a Thanks/Thanksgiving card for Pile It On and the Cuttlebug Spot. The colours are from SPCC (sorry, I really tried for peach, but it just wasn't working!) and the sketch is from Clean & Simple. All supplies are CTMH except the ribbon and button.
Will post more tomorrow, hopefully the computer will cooperate better!

Lot's o' bling

Well, I'm just confused. According to the media, if you're sick, you have swine flu. Both my boys had fever and coughs, but I've just got a chest cold and a bad headache. Does that mean I don't have swine flu? Did we just have a virus? Should we still try and get the vaccine? Aagh! Good news is, although I'm sick, I'm in the walking wounded category, no fever for me.
Bad news, being sick seems to affect my craftiness. This card needs something, I'm just not sure what. Not sure if the bling is too bling-y, or maybe there needs to be more of a focal point.
OK, nuff whining, here's the details: everything is CTMH except the Martha glitter. Sketch is from Unscripted, colours are from SPCC and I tried out a new challenge: Cooking it up with Katie. (bling, border and Christmas)
In other good news, my spider card was selected as the winner at the Cuttlebug Spot last week! What a surprise to see my card posted there, I can't believe I actually won a challenge!

The fundamental rule of germs

I think I have swine flu. Blech. My chest is tight and I've got a nasty cough. I don't have a fever yet, but DH assures me it's coming soon. After having kids for 6 years now, I have determined that no amount of hand washing or Lysol will protect me - not when they cough in your face!
I did manage to make a card, thank goodness most of my scrappy stuff is stashed on and under the coffee table, so I can just sit and play. It took me awhile, and I'm not 100% happy with it, but I thought I'd put it up anyway, cause if I get sicker you won't hear from me for a few days.
I used Stardust paper from CTMH and a House Mouse stamp. This is my first House Mouse, and I found it hard to colour - very fine detail. I think I will attempt it again later using lighter colours, that might help. The sketch is Card Patterns and the colours are from Pile it On.
Hope you're all healthy out there, chat later.

Two cards - One silly, one serious

I had a very productive night last night, I was on my own so I got lots done once the kids were in bed. I started with a new (to me anyway!) challenge - Clean and Simple Sketches, added in the SPCC colour challenge and topped it off with a Just Us Girls (JUGS, hee hee!) challenge to use 3D flowers. I hope mine are 3D enough, I pop dotted them up to add a little extra oomph. (Oh, and I added the border punch again, sorry!)

After that, I was still feeling crafty so I thought I'd go for round 2. When I saw the sketch from CPS this week, I immediately thought 'spider', which was perfect because Stamp Something and The Cuttlebug Spot were doing a Halloween challenge, and the Pink Elephant wanted black, hardware and distressing. Lesson learned, you really can't distress black cardstock unless it has a white core, had to distress my letters instead! It's a totally goofy card, but the kids are already fighting over who gets to give it to their teacher!

As promised, more candy - Trish at Diamond Doll Crafty Space is offering up some more British candy and Jacilynn is offering up yummy birthday candy, so check them out! Maybe if I have some time tomorrow, I'll hunt for some more candy, you can never have too much!

More penguins

Not sure how many cards with penguins I've posted, but it's more than one. If you haven't figured it out already, I like penguins! I did have a hard time getting a good embossed image with this one from Inkadinkadoo, I may have to play some more.
The blue, white and silver colour scheme at the Shoe just screamed winter, so I paired it with a sketch from Sweet Sunday to make this simple card. The paper is Aspen from CTMH, one of my all time favourites from last year that I haven't used nearly enough!

Had some fun today blog hopping (which I don't get to do nearly enough) and found some yummy candy to share with you. Dawny at Pink Piggy (hee hee, love that!) is offering a great candy, including Martha punches and Penny black stamps, which I love. Enfys at Going Buggy has different candy depending on where in the world you live, which is pretty neat cause you can get some British stuff that's hard to get over here. More candy tomorrow, my computer's wigging out with so many windows open. See you!
