Late night babbling

I think the weeks must get longer as you get closer to Christmas - I'm counting it down now, 8 working days till I get 11 straight days off. Heaven! I still don't know about the new job, I got a second interview, and now it's a 50-50 tossup. I hope they let me know before Christmas, cause I don't want to spend my 11 days wondering...
See, I'm babbling! I thought I'd squeeze one more card in, but that means that this posting may not make much sense as it's now 11:15 and I've been up since 5:30am. I used a new set from CTMH, (well, new to me, since it's actually retired!) and then found this cute skating paper from Sandylion. The sketch is Unscripted, the colour are SPCC and I added some glitter for Pile it On. They're having a DT call, so I've got my fingers crossed as I'd love to be on a DT. Mind you, I think I glittered both submsissions the same way, good thing I've got another week or 2!

The aliens are coming!

When I saw the sketch from CPS, I thought of outer space, (who wouldn't?) so I found a cute digital stamp from Doodle Dragon, and made a simple, fun card. With 2 little boys who manage to get invited to a lot of parties, it's important to have "boy" cards available at short notice. This is super easy, but fun! The colours are from the Shoe.
I've also posted a simple layout of my little guys 4th birthday - sorry for the glare, I have to work out a better way to take pictures inside. I've been propping cards on the BBQ all summer, but we've had 20+ cm of snow here today, that's out of the question! I am going to try and post more layouts, I do manage to make more than cards sometimes!
Anyway, off to shovel snow, since DH broke his finger, he conveniently can't shovel. Darn!

A Purple Christmas

I'm not sure what's more purple, my card for SPCC or my husband's finger! He fell off the ladder while putting up Christmas light yesterday, only 2 rungs thank goodness, but busted up his finger. He's not quite ready to see the funny side of it yet, but I find the giant splint on his finger quite amusing!
I wasn't sure about the SPCC colours, violet and red? Ended up doing another Christmas card, I have amassed quite a collection, which will be good when I need one at the last minute. The sketch is from JUGS, and both Pile it On and Stamp Something were looking for bling. I am well aquainted with the bling, I glittered all my Christmas cards on Sunday and wow, I'll be sweeping up glitter for a long time I think! Ps, the dragon is from Doodledragon Designs, my fave!
Speaking of my Chrismas cards, here they are! I used Jingle Creative Basics paper from CTMH, a bunch of CTMH Christmas stamps and several Martha punches, love em! All ready to address and mail out, ugh. Doesn't matter whether you buy them or make them, you still have to write something in them!
(Have to get credit to Laurel Seabrook, Bren Yule and another fabulous CTMH consultant whose name I forgot to write they, they provided the inspiration for my cards!

Hey all my sadly neglected blog friends! Whew, November is over and I can relax and be zen. Well, maybe not zen, but I can at least downgrade from frantic to my everyday crazyness! I'm still waiting to hear about the new job, they're doing another interview on Monday so I won't find out for awhile. Que sera sera, there's nothing I can do about it but relax, right?
I'm looking forward to Christmas and decorating - I'm just about done all my cards, I'll post them soon. Went scrapping last night with my girlfriends and got a couple pages started and a card done - I think I managed to make 5 challenges with this one!
The sketch is Unscripted, the colours are from the Colour Chef, the Cuttlebug Spot has a winter theme, Crazy 4 Challenges is doing punches and Cooking with Katie has a recipe that includes red, brads and three of something. I think one of my white snowflakes fell off, cause I did have 3 I swear! Paper is Just Chillin' and the stamp sets are Holiday Jingle and Snow friends from CTMH.
See you soon! (I promise!)

A frosty card

First up, a big Happy Thanksgiving to all my Southern neighbours. Hope you're all enjoying your turkey and getting set for shopping tomorrow. We don't have anything like Black Friday here, although there are some good sales now it's closer to Christmas. Can't believe it's almost December, November has just flown by. Still no word on the job, hopefully I'll hear tomorrow, cause I'm starting to get a little antsy. (Just a little, hah!)
I've been busy though, I've done most of my Christmas cards (I have 6 more to make, then I have a major date with a glitter bottle!) and I managed to sneak in this card. There's so many fun sketches out there, thought I'd play along with Mojo Monday for this one. The colour combo is from the Colour Chef, very frosty and cool. Very simple, a little ribbon, one of my cute new Stampin Up stamps and a button.
I'll fill you in on the job tomorrow, (I hope!) happy shopping everyone!

I love this sketch!

Clean & Simple came up with a great sketch this week, I don't think I've ever had a card come together so quickly or easily, and had it look so good! I used CTMH Rustic flowers and Thank you stamp sets, and cut two flowers out with a Nesties die and added buttons. Easy! The colour combo is from JUGS, and I made a Thank you card for Stamp something.
In other happenings, my crop went well, not as many attendees as hoped, but we had lots of space and had a good day. I think the interview went well (I hope!) and now all I can do is sit back and wait - not something I'm usually good at, so I better distract myself by making some cards! I'm much more relaxed this week, so time to get back and get crafty, I've got Christmas cards to make!

Hoppin' away...

This little gal sure is cute! I finally caved and bought some Stampin' Up stamps, I'm going to mount them on Easy Mount and give the blocks to my kids! I love their artwork (not quite as much as CTMH!) and I think I may have to get more...
Anyway, there's a ton of stuff going on in my life, I've worked 11 days straight, with one more to go, I'm hosting a crop on Saturday so I've been running around like crazy, and to top it off, I have a job interview tomorrow, aargh! It's for another position in my company, but I'm freaking out cause it's been 10 years since I had to do this. Mind you, I did get a new outfit out of it!
And I still managed to make a card! This is a (very!) loose interpretation of the Sweet sunday sketch, and the colour combo is a fun one from SPCC. (I almost forgot - I won a challenge at SPCC, and then I was too busy to crow about it. Nuts huh?)
Hope your week is a little less crazy than mine, see you all later!

Back from beyond

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around this week. I volunteered to do inventory at work, which required staying late several evenings and working all weekend. Needless to say, nothing else got done, which meant by Sunday night my house was a disaster! Things are mostly back to normal now, but boy, I sure can't wait for the weekend to get some rest!
I managed to sit down and make a card last night, I used a sketch from Card Patterns, a colour scheme from the Colour Chef and a recipe from Cooking with Katie. (flowers, clear shapes and a sketch) Just a very simple card, but I like how this turned out. The black flower border is a fuzzy adhesive tape I got from a dollar store and now I'm kicking myself I didn't get more, cause it's so nice. The clear shapes are from CTMH, as is the cardstock. Also, Just us Girls is looking for embossing, it added a nice touch to my squares.
Hopefully, I'll have more to post tomorrow, but I'm hosting a crop this weekend, so at some point I have to get ready for that. (I forsee a very busy Friday night!) See you later!

Imagination vs. reality

Let's just say reality won this round! Hee hee, it's actually not a bad card and I like the design, but the toilet paper just did not work like I wanted. Yes, you read that right, toilet paper. Blame it on the Everything but the Kitchen sink challenge, which I found recently and thought would be fun. Hmmm...
So here's what I learned:
1. Toilet paper doesn't tear well. or in other words, it tears too well and not where you want it.
2. Separate your plys first, otherwise they may come apart later when you don't want them too.
3. Toilet paper sticks well to paper, but it's very hard to glue more TP on top. It tends to rip and tear when you try and add adhesive on top.
4. I will probably not be using TP on my cards again!
In all fairness though, this was a neat challenge and certainly made me think outside the box. Can't wait to see what's up next!
I did use a sketch from Sweet Sunday, a colour combo from Frosted designs, and it's Christmas-y for Scrap or Dare.
Darn, I just missed the deadline for the kitchen sink, gotta start earlier on the next one.
PS, I'm working inventory all week and weekend, so I may not see you much - hopefully I'll post more next week!

Friday, November 6, 2009

Well , it's been a long week, time to relax. Friday night is my fave, we come in, dump everything, then sit on the couch all night and do nothing! I've snuck away to put up a quick post as the computer seems to be cooperating for now. DH has been stalking the Dell website, trying to decide what features he wants, I hope he decides soon, this computer is on it's last legs!
I made this card for the Just us Girls challenge, which was to use a photo. I thought it would be fun to make a card to use with those all those little wallet photos you get, except the boys just had their re-takes done and I don't have any wallets, so I just made one. Whatever works, huh? I did miss the boat on the deadline for this one, but I'll put in anyway, cause I quite like the card.
The sketch is from CPS, which I turned to fit the 'photo' (and also for the Scrap or Dare challenge) and the green scheme is from the ABC challenge. (G for green) Paper, stamps and bling are CTMH, the buttons and flowers are from my stash, and the ribbon is from my ever growing collection from WalMart. If anyone has any ideas for storing multiple rolls of ribbon, let me know!
Have a good weekend, see you later!
(PS, there's some good candy over at Stamper On the Shore - Check it out!)

Unconventional Christmas Colours

Aargh, bear with me for a moment while I rant and rave - I had to redo my whole post cause Blogger would not upload my photos. Ugh. (I've also learned from experience that you can't copy and paste links!)
Ok, nuff' ranting, just thought you should know why this post is so short, I'm too frustrated to do more! Quick couple cards, first one is a Christmas Colour Combo from SPCC. (I just can't wrap my head around orange and blue, although I tried!) Sketch is from Sweet Sunday, and the fuzzy (ok, prickly) hedge hog is for Stamp Something. Hedgehogs are Penny Black, Noel stamp is CTMH, paper is Sandylion.

Next up we have a Thanks/Thanksgiving card for Pile It On and the Cuttlebug Spot. The colours are from SPCC (sorry, I really tried for peach, but it just wasn't working!) and the sketch is from Clean & Simple. All supplies are CTMH except the ribbon and button.
Will post more tomorrow, hopefully the computer will cooperate better!

Lot's o' bling

Well, I'm just confused. According to the media, if you're sick, you have swine flu. Both my boys had fever and coughs, but I've just got a chest cold and a bad headache. Does that mean I don't have swine flu? Did we just have a virus? Should we still try and get the vaccine? Aagh! Good news is, although I'm sick, I'm in the walking wounded category, no fever for me.
Bad news, being sick seems to affect my craftiness. This card needs something, I'm just not sure what. Not sure if the bling is too bling-y, or maybe there needs to be more of a focal point.
OK, nuff whining, here's the details: everything is CTMH except the Martha glitter. Sketch is from Unscripted, colours are from SPCC and I tried out a new challenge: Cooking it up with Katie. (bling, border and Christmas)
In other good news, my spider card was selected as the winner at the Cuttlebug Spot last week! What a surprise to see my card posted there, I can't believe I actually won a challenge!

The fundamental rule of germs

I think I have swine flu. Blech. My chest is tight and I've got a nasty cough. I don't have a fever yet, but DH assures me it's coming soon. After having kids for 6 years now, I have determined that no amount of hand washing or Lysol will protect me - not when they cough in your face!
I did manage to make a card, thank goodness most of my scrappy stuff is stashed on and under the coffee table, so I can just sit and play. It took me awhile, and I'm not 100% happy with it, but I thought I'd put it up anyway, cause if I get sicker you won't hear from me for a few days.
I used Stardust paper from CTMH and a House Mouse stamp. This is my first House Mouse, and I found it hard to colour - very fine detail. I think I will attempt it again later using lighter colours, that might help. The sketch is Card Patterns and the colours are from Pile it On.
Hope you're all healthy out there, chat later.

Two cards - One silly, one serious

I had a very productive night last night, I was on my own so I got lots done once the kids were in bed. I started with a new (to me anyway!) challenge - Clean and Simple Sketches, added in the SPCC colour challenge and topped it off with a Just Us Girls (JUGS, hee hee!) challenge to use 3D flowers. I hope mine are 3D enough, I pop dotted them up to add a little extra oomph. (Oh, and I added the border punch again, sorry!)

After that, I was still feeling crafty so I thought I'd go for round 2. When I saw the sketch from CPS this week, I immediately thought 'spider', which was perfect because Stamp Something and The Cuttlebug Spot were doing a Halloween challenge, and the Pink Elephant wanted black, hardware and distressing. Lesson learned, you really can't distress black cardstock unless it has a white core, had to distress my letters instead! It's a totally goofy card, but the kids are already fighting over who gets to give it to their teacher!

As promised, more candy - Trish at Diamond Doll Crafty Space is offering up some more British candy and Jacilynn is offering up yummy birthday candy, so check them out! Maybe if I have some time tomorrow, I'll hunt for some more candy, you can never have too much!

More penguins

Not sure how many cards with penguins I've posted, but it's more than one. If you haven't figured it out already, I like penguins! I did have a hard time getting a good embossed image with this one from Inkadinkadoo, I may have to play some more.
The blue, white and silver colour scheme at the Shoe just screamed winter, so I paired it with a sketch from Sweet Sunday to make this simple card. The paper is Aspen from CTMH, one of my all time favourites from last year that I haven't used nearly enough!

Had some fun today blog hopping (which I don't get to do nearly enough) and found some yummy candy to share with you. Dawny at Pink Piggy (hee hee, love that!) is offering a great candy, including Martha punches and Penny black stamps, which I love. Enfys at Going Buggy has different candy depending on where in the world you live, which is pretty neat cause you can get some British stuff that's hard to get over here. More candy tomorrow, my computer's wigging out with so many windows open. See you!

Pleated ribbon take 2

Wow, two posts in one day, that's almost a record for me. However, I decided to try out a few new challenges to 'challenge' myself and the deadline for Caardvarks is tonight, so here I am. The Caardvarks challenge is for 'tall cards' and this sketch from card Patterns was easy to stretch. To finish up, I used the colours from SPCC, artichoke, celery and rust. Not sure about my shade of green, I think I need to get my hands on a SU catalog so I can match colours easier. Although if I dug around, I'm sure I can find a comparison chart of SU and CTMH colours.
If you remember, I had trouble the last time I tried to pleat ribbon, my tape kept unsticking. I figured if I used brads, there was no way it was moving! I really like the look of this, and I was quite ready to keep the card as is except I needed to stick some green on there somewhere! Definately something I will do again.
Anyway, it's late and I'm tired, and I know DS will be up in the night with this fever, so I'm off to bed. Night!

Seriously Fun Colours

I love bright colours, especially to scrap with. I was feeling kind of bleh last night, so I pulled out the Colour Throwdown challenge to cheer me up. Teal, pomegranate and celery, yeah! To go with, I pulled out this little penguin stamp from Imaginisce, since she seemed pretty summery. The sketch is from the Pink Elephant, cardstock is CTMH and the flowers and brads are from my stash.
Gotta go now, DS is home from school with a fever, and it's quite the job to keep him calm and quiet while the Tylenol's working as it's definately not his usual state. I hope I don't get whatever he's got, this is my last sick day till January! Come on Christmas!

Spooky patterns

Scrap or Dare last week (I know, I seem to be perpetually behind there) was to use 5 patterns. On a layout that's not to bad, on a card, it can be pretty busy! I wimped out a bit and went with some double sided We R Memory Keepers paper, it was double sided, so with 2 pieces, I got 4 patterns that all matched. It also worked for the Colour Chef challenge as Kelly Jo was looking for Black, orange, purple and green this week, perfect for Halloween, which just happens to also be the theme at Pile it on this week. I love it when challenges mesh and play nice together!
Sketch is from CPS, and I think the witch is Making Memories, although I'm not sure about that one.
I'm off to try out my new steam cleaner, isn't it sad when you get excited about cleaning products? Sigh, I guess that's how you know you're grown up!

Mom, why is there glitter on the floor?

Um, maybe I just got a little over enthusiastic with the glitter last night! It's been awhile since I played, but when I saw the new Christmas colour combo over at SPCC, I immediately thought of my Martha glitter. It's not quite the same, but hopefully close enough. The sketch is from Unscripted Sketches, and luckily enough, both Stamp Something and the Shoe were looking for bling. Ha, I think I've got some of that!
Stamp set is New fallen snow and Holiday Trinkets, both CTMH, robbon is Walmart and glitter is Martha.
Gotta run, DH is alway for the week, which makes Monday night that much more crazy. Enjoy the sparkle!
PS, the "3 panel" scene is not my idea, another very talented CTMH consultant posted it last year and I love it!

Thursday, October 15, 2009

You may have seen this border punch before...

Several times in fact. Can't help it, new toy, just gotta use it some more, although I promise to try and not use it tomorrow! I'm thinking the solution may be to go and buy a few more so I have some more variety, but I'm not sure if DH will go for that!
Besides my current addiction to the border punch, I am also head over heels for this gamsol blending technique. It looks so good, it's hard to tell it was coloured with pencil crayons. And, I don't need a huge investment in Copics, although I'm still highly temped.
Today's sketch is from Unscripted Sketches and the colour combo is from SPCC. The stamp is a Popcorn the Bear image from Joanna Sheen, he's just too cute, I can't believe this is the first time I've used him.
I'm off to do laundry and tidy up, the kids have been playing video store with all the DVD cases and I can't quite see my youngest's bed. See you tomorrow!

A little bling goes a long way

Simple and elegant huh? Last week's Scrap or Dare was simple and elegant and I hope I've succeeded. I think the bling helped, it added that nice little extra something. The sketch is from CPS and the monochromatic scheme was for the Cuttlebug Spot, except I keep forgetting to emboss anything so I can't submit it!
Everything is CTMH, except the punch. (It's a new Martha border, which I plan to use excessively over the next week or two!) Paper is Emporium, which is always classy and elegant, and I used Boutique Borders and Thank You stamp sets.
Not feeling real chatty today, more tomorrow!

Got Dirt?

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow canucks and Happy Columbus Day to our next door neighbours. I've been at my MIL's, stuffing myself with turkey and just kicking back and relaxing. I did get to do some scrapping while I was there, but I could only take a few things with me (DH gets crabby when I try and take too much stuff!) so I have a few layouts to finish up. I did manage to finish this one, so I'll post it now.
I usually have a hard time applying a challenge to a layout - I really like to let the photos lead me to colours and layouts. However, Stamp Something's challenge this week was just to use brown, and I thought I could pull that off OK with this layout about my backyard disaster. The paper is Bobunny, and the border punch is a Martha one I just got, I thought it kind of looked like a fence. I cut the arrows out of more Bobunny paper and added a couple stickers and done!
Have a good week!

My tape won't stick!

Aagh, I tried this faux pleated ribbon technique on my card, but I ran out of double sided tape part way, and the bits that did have tape keep coming unstuck. This was Amy's challenge this week at Scrap or Dare, and I'm not entirely thrilled with the results. However, I promise to try it again when I have more sticky stuff!
The sketch today is Mojo Monday, the colour are from SPCC (and boy, did I ever have a hard time with this one, CTMH doesn't really have anything resembling peach, the closest I could come was Taffy) It turned out kind of masculine, which is good, as you never know when you're gonna need a card for a guy.
I also pop dotted the star to add dimension for the Pile it on challenge this week. Happy crafting!

A happy Giraffe

Hey all. Just warning you up front I have a sinus cold and my head feels like it's full of cotton balls so if something I say doesn't make sense, it's not really my fault.
Quick card tonight, the sketch is from 2 Sketches and the colour combo is from the Colour Chef. There were some interesting combos this week, this one involved pink and orange, which I alway thought didn't go together. Well, apparently they do, and quite nicely too!
The giraffe is a Doodle Dragon digital stamp and I coloured him using pencil crayons and gamsol and I think it turned out pretty good for a first try. (note to self: orange first, then black next time!)
I got the tutorial from Inky Antics, it was pretty easy was to colour in an image.
Anyway, my ears hurt, I gotta go take some more sinus meds, see you tomorrow.

Monday, October 5, 2009

Hey all, happy Monday. Gotta be quick, as Monday's are Beavers night around here, and Warren's getting his blue tail tonight. He thinks it will be boring, even though I explained to him that he wouldn't be sitting around watching people get their tails all night. I'm the one who gets to sit around all night and watch, hee hee!
I made this card last night, I was having a hard time with the colour combos. Over at SPCC they've posted 5 colour challenges to celebrate World Cardmaking day and they're hard! I went with kraft, suede and red, cause I couldn't imagine what I would do with lavender, curry and rust! If I have time I might try one more, that is the whole point of a challenge, isn't it?
The sketch is from CPS, and the ABC challenge is E for embossing, and easy one. I used CTMH cardstock and Annotations stamp set, the ribbon and brad are from my stash.
See you later!

Happy World Cardmaking Day!

Hi Everyone, Happy World Cardmaking day! I was lucky and got to crop last week, so I'm not doing anything special. (although I might make a card tonight after the kiddies are in bed!) Busy day, my older son had apple day this morning for Beavers and my little guy has his birthday party this afternoon, so I am off to clean the bathroom.
Anyway, I made this card for the Mojo Monday sketch using the SPCC colours, although I suspect I missed the deadline on that one. I'll just have to get a headstart on next weeks! I used another hedgehog from Penny Black, love these little guys. There is green on the stems, but it's an olive-y green and doesn't show up well.
Anyway, enjoy your cardmaking day, whether you actually get to make a card or not!

Back to our regularly scheduled program...

Well, after all the excitement of being a guest designer, it's back to reality. Got a couple of cards I made the other night, I really like how they both turned out.
Card number one uses a sketch from Unscripted sketches and a Christmas Colour Combo from SPCC. I'm loving all these colour challenges, I think they're my favourite kind of challenge. Everything is CTMH except the punches and the stickles. The Pink Elephant challenge this week was a tag, a punched shape and dots. I've got dots and punched snowflakes, but I'm hoping they'll go for my label/tag! I find this kind of 'recipe' challenge hard - I always find it hard to get everything in there!
Card number two uses a sketch from 2 Sketches, and a colour combo from the Colour Chef. I bought these cute Penny Black stamps a while back, so I pulled it out and love it. The hedgehogs are way too cute, although I should not have coloured their feet! Not sure what the patterned paper is, but the cardstock is CTMH and the ribbon is from WalMart.
Phew, good thing it's almost Friday!

Scrappin Great Deals October Kit

Wow, I'm so excited, I get to be a guest designer!
I found this great store online called Scrappin Great Deals in the spring and ordered a few things, and then managed to finangle a visit to the store while we were in London. So much stuff, I could've have spent ages there if DH wasn't lurking in the parking lot with the kids! Anyhoo, they have a monthly kit, and suggested I apply to be a guest designer. Well, wasn't I blown away when they offered me the October kit to play with! Honestly, it probably sat on my table for two weeks while I plotted and planned, and then finally got up the courage to do something with it. So here it is, I hope you enjoy what I've done with it.

Right out of the package, the first paper I saw was the one with the owls from Best Creation Inc. Too cute, I am so into owls right now! I was ready to slap a picture on it ans sling it in the album as is, but I thought I better do something with it! I added a photo matt, and the scalloped strip which I trimmed from a piece by Pink Paislee. To finish it off, I added a title made with Thickers letters. Easy! (oh, I couldn't resist a cute close up of the owls - love it!)

Next I used another piece from Best Creation. I split it and added a piece from My Mind's Eye, cut some holes and then pop dotted the whole thing. It's hard to see, but the pumpkins are recessed. I can't take credit for this, I saw this idea in the most recent Scrapbooks Etc magazine and wanted to try it. I used the cute mini stamps to add the bats to the photo strip.

For the third layout, I wanted to get away from Halloween for a bit, so I used some of the tags from Pink Paislee to make a layout about my boy - that's not actually a mug shot there, he's only six! I used a sheet from We R Memory keepers, it already has a cool grungy border on, so I didn't need to add much.

Then I made some cards, using more of the Pink Paislee tags. They would be perfect for wrapping some Halloween goodies up, but they worked pretty great for cards too. I used some more of the Thickers, these neat little beady things and some of the felt trim. I just cut a couple of the pumpkins off and stuck them on, they're self adhesive, which is a good thing with felt.

Finally, I thought I'd leave you with a picture of some of the leftovers - there was some great lace paper, more We R Memory Keepers paper, cardstock and more. Guess I'll have to take lots of pictures at Halloween so I can use up the rest!
Just want to pass along a great big thank you to Scrappin Great Deals for letting me be guest designer - don't forget to check out their site!

Getting the jump on Halloween

Well, it is a little early to be thinking Halloween, but that's the fun part about making cards - I can make them when I want and then stash them. It's funny, cause I'm actually a little Halloween'd out right now, and I'll tell you why October 1st! (hee, hee, I'm so mean!)
I am seriously loving this stamp set, 'many thanks' right now, I forsee many cards to come using it! This card is pretty simple, sketch from CPS, colour scheme from SPCC and 'fall leaves' from the Shoe.

I also put up a layout I did this weekend, I went scrapping at my friend Sherry's and had a fun, productive day. The paper is Fancy Pants, the label is We R Memory Keepers and the chipboard dodads are from the dollar store. Good old Dollarama, where else can you get so many neat chipboard stickers for a buck? (Can you tell I like a bargain? Honestly, I shop everywhere, but I'm sort of frugal, at least when I want to be!)
Happy Monday, I'm off to hike with some Beavers in the rain!

A new technique (to me anyway!)

Good Saturday morning everyone,
There's a chill in the air, but that's OK, cause I'm going scrapping today. DH is taking the kids on a tour of the local OPP station (police), perhaps he will leave them locked up there, hee hee!
I made this card using a sketch from the Pink Elephant, a Christmas colour combo from SP Colour Challenges, and a technique from the Cuttlebug Spot. In honour of their one year anniversary, their challenge was to use their very first technique, inking the embossing folder. I never would have thought of that. I ran my pieces through separately, and if you look close you can see I inked one on the emboss and one on the deboss. (or one on the innie and one on the outie!) Neato!
(Damn, missed the deadline on that one, oh well)
The felt snowflake and seniment are CTMH, the dotted paper is Bazzill.
See you later!

Birds of a feather

OK, super busy, still gotta mop my floor before bed, and finish the munchkins birthday invites. So here is the supershort version:
Sketch - Mojo Monday
Colour Combo - SP Colour Challenge, nice and bright!
Using punches - Pile it on, circle punch (does the nestie count too?)
Supplies - cardstock - Bazzill, felt and Bird Basics stamp set - CTMH, stickles, ribbon - Walmart
For the record, I thought of feathers when I saw this sketch, and I like how it turned out, although I don't like the spaces between the 'feathers'. May have to redo this bit!
See you later!

Gotta remember to add a title this time...

Seems everytime I post lately, I forget to add a title, then I have to go back and edit. Not that it's a huge hassle, you just think that after making the same mistake like 6 times I might have moved on to something new. Mommy brain I guess, cause I sure don't feel as smart as I used to. Maybe it's just the crazy questions my kids come up with that make me realize I don't know as much as I think I do!
I should be feeling smart though, cause I love this card. It came together super quick and looks great. Part of the credit goes to Amy - her challenge this week is to 'scraplift' one of her cards. That was easy, I knew which one I wanted to case right away - I just loved the colours and the simplicity of the design. (see below)

I used a sketch from Unscripted Sketches too, as I wanted the card to be inspired by, not a slave too! I used the Four Seasons stamp set and a button from CTMH, the ribbon I got from Walmart. I wanted some wide satin ribbon, and Micheals is so darn expensive, this stuff was just $2.00, I'm going back to get more colours!
Happy crafting!

Shades required!

Ooh, white, lime green and black and white polka dots, what a colour combo! Stamp Something is looking for fave colour combo this week, and while this may not be my all time fave, I certainly love bright colours. I may not wear them or decorate with them, but it sure is fun to play with the paper version!
This came together really quickly - the sketch is from CPS and the colour combo from the Shoe. I used Rustic Flowers, Playful Flourishes, Thank You and Tickled Pink stamps sets - that's it. It needed something else, so I added the hand drawn border and volia, a simple, cheerful card.

Joy to the world

Saturday morning, just a few minutes to sit and relax before I head out to do groceries and run some errands. My oldest boy's shoes are completely trashed and his toes are falling out, so we're off to WalMart to get some more. I bought those shoes in July, I can't believe I'm buying more already. Aarg. Then I have to rent a carpet cleaner so I can do the carpets and the inside of the van, a sure recipe for a fun weekend! Gotta be done though.
I'm not in love with this card - it didn't turn out quite how I thought it would. Ha, that happens a lot in my world, my artistic vision doesn't always match what I can create! Still, it's a nice card, and I want to use this stamp set (Holiday jingle CTMH) again, it's really nice. All supplies are Close to My Heart except the stocking, I think that's a dollar store sticker. (You may have noticed I shop there a lot, our Buck or Two stores usually carry a selection of Sandylion stuff for cheap!)
Have a good weekend!
(Geez, almost forgot, the sketch is Mojo Monday, and the colour combo is from SP Colour Challenges!)

Finally friday

Whew, it's been a long week, but Friday is here and I'm kicking back at the computer while the kids run wild. Just letting them tank up on sugar so they're ready when DH gets home from his trip, hee hee!
As promised, I managed to made a card last night, then I crashed. So this is what I came up with. I used a sketch from CPS, and a cheery colour combo from the Colour Throwdown. I did have to change the yellow to a darker shade, the pale yellow really didn't go with the patterned paper.
I think the patterned paper is Sandylion, the stickers are from the dollar store and the 'celebrate' is from CTMH Cupcake Sprinkles stamp set.
OK, gotta go, DH just walked in the door, the screaming has begun!
