A couple of layouts

The internet is working, cross my fingers, so I'm going to put up a few layouts. The first is my
son's kindergarden concert (The sticky is just covering the name of his school) The patterned paper is Jillibean soup, and I used the Rustic Alpha, Atomic lowercase and Life's a jungle stampset. (CTMH) The arrow stamp is (I think) Little yellow bicycle.

The second layout is my kid and cousins goofing at the zoo, the patterned paper is from a Wal-Mart slab. (what can I say, it was 5 bucks!) I used Framed Moments, Confidential, Tiny Typewriter and Playful Flourishes stamp sets (CTMH) The embellishments are from my stash. I went through a phase where I put everything in plastic bags by theme, and now I can't remember where everything came from!

Lemonade Award

Wow, thanks for the award Melanie! I've been having a hard time getting online the past couple of days, (It's been overcast and rainy, just the kind of weather my satellite internet hates.) I promise to try and pass this award on when the weather clears up! Don't forget to check out Melanie's great blog, Paper Happens, love the name!

A birthday card and a Woo Hoo!

Well, this is just a little late. Satellite internet is OK, except when it rains. Or snows. Or thunders. Or is overcast. Ugh.
Anyway, this was supposed to be for Card Patterns sketch #20 and Scrap or Dare #8, (blush, petal, clover meadow, white and/or sweet leaf) but I think I'm too late for Card Patterns. Hopefully not for Scrap or Dare as well! Amy picked me as the winner for her masculine series, so I gotta keep up the effort. (Woo Hoo!) So many challenges, so little time...sigh.
Supplies used:
Cardstock:sweet leaf, clover meadow, blush CTMH
Stamp sets: Tickled Pink, Happy Birthday and Confidential CTMH
Cuttlebug embossing folder
Border punch: Stampin Up
White flower: CTMH
Ribbon: not sure, maybe a chocolate box?

CPS 121

Didn't get as much done as I wanted last night, it was just too damn hot. DH volunteered to put the AC in before he left for the week, and me being the dope that I am, said we could wait till he got home. Not the brightest decision I have ever made.
For the Card Positioning Systems sketch, I used the Animal Cookies paper again (since i already had it out anyway) and made a card for Warren's SK teacher. He's really sad today, he's going to miss all his little friends until school starts up again in Spetember.
Supplies Used:
Animal Cookie paper pack - CTMH
cuttlebug folder
chipboard bracket and star brads - my stash
Stamp set - Atomic Uppercase CTMH

Bowmanville Zoo

I love bright coloured paper, and this Animal Cookies pack from CTMH is a current fave. I did this layout with it last night, and even though I don't do 2 page layouts very often, I think it turned out pretty good.
DH is in Borden for the week, which gives me lots of time to scrap once the kids are in bed. (whether they're asleep or not is another story!) Tonight I have to make a thank you card for Warren's teacher (last day of school is tomorrow, argh!) and a b-day card for a girlfriends 30th, but right now, Warren's making his own card for his teacher using my stamps (eek!) so I gotta go supervise. (Graham just got dark blue ink on a yellow ink pad, serves me right for not paying attention!) See you!
Supplies used:
Animal Cookies paper pack - CTMH
chipboard letters - Dollarama
Stamp Set - Life's A jungle

Late night visitor

The boys headed off to see the Monster Trucks last night, so I thought I'd have a quiet, peaceful evening at home to scrap. Well, about 9pm, the dog starts barking and whining and kicking up a fuss, so I head to the patio door to see what the fuss was about, and this is what i found:
It was the cutest little baby raccoon, hanging out on my deck! So of course, I have to put out some crackers for him (her?) to munch on and take a ton of pictures. I know that in a couple of months I'll be cursing myself as the darn thing gets into the garbage again, but I couldn't help it, he was just so cute and fuzzy! After I was done taking pictures, this is the layout I finally got finished. I like it, but I still think it needs something, so if you have any suggestions, let me know. We took these pictures at the Tulip Festival on Mother's Day, and despite the begging, pleading and bribery, this was the best we could do!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day everyone! Hope you've all got you cards done on time. (hmm, sorry dad) Looking forward to a sunny weekend with the family before DH takes off for a week in Borden. At least he's leaving after Father's Day, usually he leaves on the Sunday.
I did this card for CPS and for the Colour Chef challenge. I've seen some really elegant and minimalist two colour cards out there, but I'm not entirely sure I like this. Oh well, at least it was a quick card to put together!
Supplies used: (all CTMH)
Cardstock - white, bamboo
Stamp set - Boutique Borders, Happy Birthday, tiny typewriter and New Horizons
Embossing Ink

Unscripted Sketches 10

A nice simple card this time, one that didn't take 1-1/2 hours to create! The sketch is from Unscripted sketches and the colours are from Amy's Scrap or Dare - olive green, buttercup, cocoa and bamboo. Perfect for that slightly neglected Father's Day card. (Hey, it's not Father's Day yet, although it's not likely to make it to Woodstock by Sunday!)
Supplies Used: (all CTMH)
Cardstock - olive, bamboo
Patterned paper - Back Country, notebook
Stamp set - Beary best (love this set, had to get it as soon as I saw it!)
Friendship Alpha small
Blending pen, buttons

Blog Award

Wow, I'm honoured that Amy passed this award onto me, but also freaked out! I've only been blogging for about 2 weeks, so this is a little overwhelming.

The rules for this award are:

1) Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award, and his or her blog link.

2) Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you’ve newly discovered.

3) Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

I don't know about 15 blogs, but I did some blog hopping and found a few cute blogs with some great artwork hosted by CTMH sisters. Check them out:

Scrap or Dare #6

As much as I like colour challenges, I find them hard to use on a layout. I like to pick my paper based on the photos, not the other way around. However, I really wanted to work on a layout and not on a card, so I thought I'd try it. Amy's Scrap or Dare colours were barn red, outdoor demin, grey flannel and black. I tried, I really tried, but I couldn't make the barn red work with the cute gear paper, so I substituted autumn terracotta. It's close-ish?
Supplies used:
Outdoor denim, autumn terracotta cardstock - CTMH
Gear paper - CM (I know I'm a CTMH consultant, but I'm also an equal opportunity scrapper, hence the paper addict label!)
Ribbon - my stash
Stamp set - Framed Moments CTMH
Wall-E design - my own (I think he needs some buttons or something on his tummy, I may have to play some more)

This card is for Card Positioning Systems sketch 119 and Kelly Jo's Colour Challenge. I needed a wedding card, and the colour challenge was perfect for it, black and white with a pop of colour. I choose green cause I had some glitzy green paper, then I piled on the bling with the glitter butterflies and pearls.
Supplies Used:
Black/White paper - Walmart
Green floral - Rouge ge Garance (I think)
Green cardstock - SEI
White cardstock - CTMH
Butterflies - Colorbok
Pearls - Dollarama
Ribbon - my stash
Embossing Ink - CTMH
Stamp sets - True happiness and Frame of Mind, CTMH
Cuttlebug folder - Divine Swirls
Whew, even with a sketch and a colour scheme, it still took me 1 1/2 hours to finish this!

My dog

Finally, it's Friday! I don't know what it is about taking Tuesday off, but it made the week seem even longer. I'm sitting here watching the dog lounging on the deck and thinking I need to go join her. She looks so cute, she just got her annual haircut/shave so she's ready for the hot weather. The top photo is pre haircut, and the bottom is obviously post! Hmm, I think I need to scrapbook these!

Unscripted Sketches 09

As predicted, sick hubby equals more scrappin' time for me, yeah! (Not glad that he's sick, but you gotta look on the bright side of things!)
So last night I got going and I finished up the last of my Easter pics. I don't know what it is about Easter, maybe being crammed in my MIL's apartment with my sister in law and family makes me take more photos? I always end up with hundreds of pics from a 4 day weekend and then I have to weed through them.
This is the 3 older kids at the park, where, against my better judgement, they were playing in a huge puddle. End result? Wet feet for all three!
Supplies used:
Sketch: Unscripted Sketches 09
Cardstock - Wal-Mart
Patterned paper - Carolee's Creations
Friends tag - My Mind's Eye
Flower, transparency + buttons - my stash
Stamp set - Friendship Alpha small

Scrap or Dare #5

Well, Monday rolls around again. On the plus side, there's lots of new challenges to take part in. On the negative side, DH spent the night in the ER and has been sent home with a diagnosis of pneumonia. Hopefully, playing nurse will still leave me time to scrap, especially if he's tucked into bed!
I made this card Friday night for Scrap or Dare challenge #5 - Heavenly blue, autumn terracotta, desert sand, cocoa and colonial white. I was a little stuck with the embellishment, but i found these cute flowers at Dawn McVey's blog, and I think they turned out pretty cute!
Supplies used:
Autumn terracotta, cocoa and desert sand cardstock - Close to my Heart
Blue patterned paper - Creative memories
Ribbon and brads - my stash
Stamp set - "Thank you" Close to my heart

So far I've posted cards but no layouts, I promise to get a few up soon! I'm really into all these challenges right now (hence the blog, I needed somewhere to put them all!) but I'm still primarily a scrapbooker, and I've got a wedding to scrap!

Mojo Monday 89

I've just realized that all 3 cards I've posted have ribbon running across the middle - not sure how that happened, but it's a good way to use up my ribbon stash. I used the Mojo Monday sketch for this one, and the colour scheme is the Scrap or Dare challenge. I love these colours, so cheerful!
Supplies used:
Just chillin' paper pack (retired)
Emporium paper pack
Sweet leaf card stock
Life's a jungle stamp set
Free Spirit stamp set

Unscripted Sketches 08

I did this card for Unscripted Sketches challenge 8 and the Colour Chef challenge. I had a hard time with the colour scheme, all I could think of was Mickey Mouse. (Black, cranberry, honey and white) I'm not entirely sure i like this card - but I love this stamp set.
Supplies used:
Just chillin' paper pack (retired)
Let's go Camping stamp set
Happy Birthday stamp set
ribbon and brads (out of my stash)

So, the first post went well, I may just amaze my husband yet. (According to him, I'm barely computer literate!) Since the point of this blog is to showcase my artwork, here's my first art post.

I made this card for the CPS sketch 118 and the My Time To Colour challenge 02. There were a lot of colours in this one, but I managed to pull it off using the Key to my Heart paper pack with some sweet leaf cardstock thrown in. I also used the Heartfelt whimsy die cuts, clear sparkles and ribbon.

My first ever post!

Ok, goofy I know, but I gotta try it out and see if it works. I've obviously got a few bugs to work out before I share this with the world (ok, maybe not the whole world just yet!)
