Some cute owls

Hey, sorry I haven't posted in a couple of days, I'm not lazy just really busy. It took me 1-1/2 hours to do my post for the CTMH blog hop, (Blogger and I weren't seeing eye to eye on a few things, apparently it doesn't like it when you copy and paste links) and after all that, I still missed a link.
After that, I had my CTMH open house. It was a good afternoon but not as successful as I'd hoped. My biggest stumbling block is finding new customers - posters and flyers just don't seem to be enough.
To make myself feel better, I sat down last night with some new paper that wasn't CTMH (I love the stuff, but after a whole week of it, I needed a break!) I downloaded this cute paper from Retro Diva Designs and had to use it. I so want to dabble in digital but lack of learning and a 6 year old computer are holding me back at this point. I can still download and print though, yeah!
I used a sketch from Unscripted Sketches and If the Shoe Fits is looking for "outdoorsy". I think these cute owls are very outdoorsy!

Close To My Heart New Product Blog Hop!

Hi everyone and welcome to the last (but not least!) stop on the Close To My Heart New Product Sneak peak blog Hop! Wow, say that ten times fast. You've been to twenty eight fabulous blogs and checked out some great work featuring products from the new Fall/Winter Idea Book, so I hope you're not too tired to view my addition to the hop.

If you've come here from Jean's blog, you're on the right track, but if this is your first stop, you may want to go back to Erin's blog and start from the beginning. Check out the list of participating blogs below in case you've missed any.

This card is super simple - I used the new Sweet Home paper pack and the new Welcome Home stamp set. I used a technique called masking, which is just a fancy way of saying I covered a stamped image and then stamped another image over it. This is really fun to do with the Welcome Home stamp set, you can really "set the scene" in your artwork. I used a couple of basic brads and cut a pillow from patterned paper just as a little extra. Ink colours are Garnet, Indian Corn blue and Buttercup, perfect for fall.

Well, I hope you've had fun checking out all the great work my fellow Close To My Heart consultants have created, I know I have. Feel free to go to any point in the hop and browse some more, and don't forget to scroll down my blog, I have a few more sneak peeks of my own for you! Thanks for stopping by!

Remember, the new Fall/Winter Idea book goes live September 1st!

Hey all, if you're still hoppin, I just want to apologize to Antoinette, I missed adding her in. So check out her blog here, she's got some gorgeous cards for you to see!

A very cute bunny

I so have to start writing stuff down while I'm surfing! I found these super cute bunnies, called Warren bunnies (which is my older son's name too!) and downloaded them to print out, but for the life of me I can;t remember where. So if you recognize this rabbit, let me know so I can let everyone know.
I chose the rabbit because 1)he was cute and new and 2)he seemed to go well with the colours from Raspberry suite - melon, pink, cream and moss. I didn't want to go easter, so I made him a birthday bunny. The sketch is from Card Positioning Systems, and I managed to squeeze in a few more challenges too.
If the shoe fits Scrap It was looking for pink, Pile it on was looking for 3's and Stamp Something was looking for birthday inspiration. I hope I've got all that in here!
I used all CTMH except for the bunny and the yarn, the patterned paper is from the Key to My heart kit, and the felt is from the new Wonder felt die cuts coming in September.
And if you're not completely sick of the new CTMH peeks yet, stay tuned! Tomorrow, we're hosting a blog hop. Hop around to a whole bunch of great CTMH blogs and see what we've made with the new products ad get some great ideas. See you tomorrow at the hop!

Mmm, more blog candy

So, I'm blog hopping at work (shh, don't tell!) and I found a few blogs offering up some awesome candy that I thought I'd share with you.

The first up is Snappy Crafts, and she's looking for a comment about what craft item you'd be. I think I'd probably be something sharp and pointy like scissors.

Next up we have Dianne at My Paper Hugs with a wonderful Labour day candy and Alysabeth at Layin' Rubber Ink with a Gorjuss Girls Stamps set.

And finally tonight, we have another Gorjuss girls prize over at Fluttabyz. Sweet!

I'll add some more tomorrow, my computer is seriously slow right now. (which is why I haven't added any pics, I just couldn't face the extra step!)

S is for Santa

Hi everyone, I'm back from the wilds. I'm sorry this is a little late, we pulled back into town Monday night, and by the time we'd unpacked everything, I was too pooped to do much. Got back in the groove last night with a sketch from the Pink Elephant and more of my new Jingle paper. So I'm working away, and I decided to add a monogram for a challenge at 365 Cards when I realized I have no stamps of Santa. Eeek! Seems we may have a problem, since the ole credit card has yet to recover from the last round of spending yet. Sigh...
I kind of feel this card needs something, but lacking any Santa images, I'm not sure what. Let me know if you have any ideas.
To finish up, here's a picture of the beautiful beach at Sandbanks Provincial Park - I highly recommend it if you're up this way!

SHAPE UP challenge #3

Hi everyone, I thought I'd take it easy for this week's challenge and let you round in circles! The challenge for this week is the super trendy circle card, and here's my very first circle card:

Yet another sneak peek, isn't the hedgehog cute? These papers and stamps will be available September 1st from CTMH, although the stamp set is special, I'll fill you in on that later. Only one challenge this fits into, it was supposed to be for the ABC challenge Animals, but that was closed, luckily B is for buttons and I've got one of those!
So let's see your circle cards ladies - I'm going to leave this up for 2 weeks this time and hopefully get a few more entries. Please link your creations directly to Mr.Linky please!
Have fun!

Sneak Peek #2

Sneak peek #2 is CTMH's new Christmas paper. Hah, bet you didn't guess that! Full of fun colours and patterns, all I need now is the matching stamps and I'm set. I had a hard time ordering Christmas stamps in August, not sure why since I managed to buy a snowsuit in August last year. Sigh, I wish kids clothes were actually available in the season they were designed for. Being able to buy snowpants in February, what a novel concept.
Sorry, I'm rambling, back to the card. The sketch is from 2 Sketches 4 You, and the challenge over at the Cuttlebug Spot was to make an invite. Maybe it's cheating a bit, since there's nothing on the inside, I hope not!
All supplies are CTMH except the stickles (the paper will be available September 1st), and of course I used my Cuttlebug. I just love the look of embossed white paper, so clean and crisp. If only I could keep white clothes that way!

Sneak Peek!

Eeek, new CTMH papers and stamps, yeah! I dug right into the box last night and got crafty! Love the little houses all in a row, that's what I thought of when I saw the sketch from Card Positioning Systems. Hopefully, this is "masculine" enough for the Pile it On challenge, I figure you could go either way with this card.
Supplies are all CTMH, the paper and stamps will be available September 1st for everyone to order. Just to warn you, you may see a lot of the new papers this week and next, I've got an open house to get ready for. (I hope that's a good thing!)

Summer mermaid

So I've never really got the whole "little girl" stamp thing - I always thought they were a bit too "cutesy", animals being more my thing. Well, I think I've been converted! While I was shopping in London I found this Mermaid Emma stamp from CCDesigns, and of course I had to buy it cause her name's Emma. Now I've actually used her, and it came out so cute, I need more! Sometimes you just have to try stuff.
And I have so much stuff to try! Seriously, I managed not to forget my CTMH order under my desk at work today, there's all the stuff I bought, and then I got 2 blog candy prizes in the mail! A big thanks to the girls at Card Positioning Systems and DRS designs and Avila for all my great stuff!
Anyway, both the Pink Elephant and Stamp Challenges were looking a for "summer" inspiration and If the Shoe Fits had a colour combo of lime green/hot pink. (doesn't that just sceam summer?)
The sketch is from Unscripted sketches, paper is Rob & Bob studio, "cool" tag is Making Memories and green cardstock is CTMH. Whew!

Happy to be back!

Hi everyone, I missed creating and posting while I was away, especially as I bought a whole bunch of great new stuff! There's a store called Scrappin' Great Deals in London, they have lots of stuff and good prices, so of course I bought a bunch. And, my new CTMH is in and my Messy rabbit stamps too. It's like Christmas, now my only problem is what to use first!
So I sat down last night, and after mounting a bunch of stamps on Easy mount and getting sticky everywhere, I was ready to create. I found a sketch on 365 cards, and pulled out a bunny. The cardstock is Bazzill, and the bunny and fence stamps are Messy Rabbit. I'm sure you'll be seeing this rabbit again! I popped him up on pop-dots just to give him a bit of dimension, et voila!

SHAPE UP challenge #2

Hi everyone, while I've been off enjoying my holidays, I hope you've had fun playing my Shape Up challenge. This week's challenge is BIRDS - maked a shaped card in the shape of a bird, any bird!

This fun little penguin was easy to make out of cardstock - I just traced a rough shape, cut it out and decorated him. Can't wait to see what you come up with! I'm still on vacation, but I'll be back to regular posting next week (and back to work too, boo) Leave your birdie shaped cards here with Mr.Linky, deadline is August 21.

I'm still looking for some more design team applicants, please scroll down and read the DT post for details.

NEW SHAPE UP Challenge!

I've been having so much fun playing some of the many challenges that are out there, so in a moment of insanity, I decided I should try and host my own challenge. Once I'd made the decision, I had to figure out what kind of challenge. There's lots of fabulous challenges out there, and I wanted to do something somewhat unique. (I hope!) So here it is, the very first edition of my SHAPE UP challenge - to make shaped cards!
Part of the inspiration for this comes from the fact that I am guilty, guilty, guilty of always making the same size card. While the package of 50 cards and envies from WalMart is a great deal, always working in the same medium can be stagnating, and I needed a change. I had so much fun making this rocket ship card, I want to make more!

Supplies used: cardstock - CTMH, eyelets - my stash, stamps - All Decked out and Playful flourishes, both CTMH, marker. The design is mine, adapted from a stamp from the Reach for the stars stamp set. I also went to the Colour throwdown for some colour inspiration and piled on some eyelets for the challenge at Practical Scrappers.

This week's challenge is CELESTIAL OBJECTS. Stars, planets, ships, whatever you can think of from up in the sky. I want to see your creatively shaped cards. Just link up with Mr.Linky or leave your link in the comments section. Entries are due by next friday the 14th.
Please pass the work around about my new challenge, and of course, I love to hear from you! Oh, and don't forget to check out my DT post for details!
(ps, ignore the friday feast part of Mr.Linky, I need to figure a few more things out still)

I will be away on vacation starting first thing in the morning, so i won't be posting this week. i will be checking in though, and I can't wait to see your shaped cards!

DESIGN TEAM CALL!

I don't know if it's pretentious or not to want your own design team, but what the heck! I'm looking for a few good crafters with a yearning to share their shaped cards with the world. Here's the dirt:

DT members will be responsible for contributing a card every other week. (You're welcome to do more as well!) DT members will also view and comment on submitted artwork. There's no real perks right now other than bragging rights and my undying gratitude, I hope that will be enough! I also hope to have some blinkies or badges soon. The DT will be for 6 months.

To apply:
1. Become a follower
2. Play along! I'm going to leave the DT call open for 3 weeks, I will select the DT on the 28th, and announce it soon after. Make sure you note that you are applying for the design team somewhere please, and that I have a way to contact you.
3. Pass the word around! The more the merrier, and I would really love a good response.

Thanks so much, I am looking forward to seeing all your great work!

Thanks a bunch card

To make up for all the doom and gloom in my backyard last night, (see below) I picked these sunny colours from If the Shoe Fits, Scrap It: sunny yellow, brown and ocean blue. I couldn't
help it, I just had to add flowers, which is good cause Pile it On is looking for at least 3 flowers. The sketch is from 2 Sketches 4 you, although I changed it a little, the flowers didn't look right going right up the middle. I used the Just Chillin' paper pack, (retired) some flowers and eyelets from my stash and the Thank You stamp set from CTMH.

Now the really fun part - this is my front yard, where by the way, they weren't actually doing anything except making a mess:

And the backyard, which at this point was almost completely dug up for the installation of 3 tanks for the septic system:

Sigh...guess I better find out how much sod costs!

Key to my heart

Wow, what a shock. I knew they were going to dig up the backyard to replace the septic bed, but what I came home to tonight was more like a scene from Dante's Inferno, just with dirt. They have managed to completely kill all the good grass we had, trashed half my flower beds and left construction equipment everywhere. And I get the pleasure of paying them a very large sum of money to do this...sigh. I'll take some pictures once it stops raining!
OK, 'nuff whining, here's today's card. The sketch is from Card Positioning Systems, the colours are from Scrap or Dare, and I used my favourite embossing folder for the Cuttlebug spot. I have 6 or 7 folders now, but I keep coming back to the swirls. So pretty.
Everything today is CTMH, I used the Key to my Heart and Framed Moments stamp sets and cardstock, and rounded the corners for fun.

Feeling the blues...

Not actual blues, just the latest colour challenge from the Colour Chef, light blue, dark blue, grey and white. This did not turn out the way I planned it, but I quite like the result and it makes a nice masculine card. Need lots of those, with 3 boys in the house! The sketch is from Unscripted sketches, I really liked this one.
I used paper from Notebook and Stardust paper packs and the stamp set is New Horizons, all CTMH.

Haven't posted in a couple days, it's been super busy. However, I did find time to peek at the new CTMH catalog that's coming out in September, and I now have a wish list as long as my arm. Sigh... Can't wait to share it with everyone!
I just bought some super cute stamps from Joanna Sheen called Messy Rabbit. Two firsts for me, ordering online (and from the UK no less) and trying unmounted rubber. I know many of you out there will be snickering, but I've always prefered the touchy feely part of buying stuff. With so many LSS closed now though, if I want a good fix, the internet is full of great stuff. As for rubber stamps, when I found CTMH, I couldn't imagine ever using rubber again. But, the internet is full of tempting options, so I am anxiously awaiting my new stamps to try them out. If anyone has any suggestions on using unmounted stamps, please pass them along, I could use the help!

Finally, a great big thank you to Krista Ritskes for giving me this blog award, I appreciate it so much. I will try to pass it along to some other bloggers soon, there are so many great blogs out there it's hard to choose!
