Leap into Action!

In honour of the once every four years February 29th, Fab N Funky is hosting a 'leap into action' challenge. Interpret that as you may, but I immediately thought of bunnies and frogs jumping. Bunnies won, and here's my card:

I am once again with camera, yea! DH let me use it last night to take some pictures, but then I had to put it back in the box so the boys could 'officially' give it to me! happy! It's pretty and red and has 12x zoom...and the boys will not be allowed to touch!

Burnt cookies

I ordered this cute Wild Rose stamp awhile back - I'm a sucker for dragons and couldn't resist this one. Feeling a bit like a dragon myself though as I have just burnt yet another batch of cookies. I swear my oven is conspiring against me, it hasn't been right since we replaced the thermostat. Good thing I don't use it much, mainly the stovetop. It's frustrating though, as I've been baking cookies since I was a kid and now I have to listen to DH given me oven tips. Sigh...guess I'll just have to eat the rest of the dough!

Red - the Catered Crop (this is kind of pinky red, but still red!)

Lots of laughs and bright fun colours - CMC Copic group (got the bright colours, not so sure about the laughs. Do burnt cookies make you giggle?)

Blue and Green

It's a colour challenge this week at Fab N Funky - Blue, Green and White. And we have a great sponsor, Bugaboo! We got to pick a Bugaboo image to work with and I grabbed this new Stella and Gus block. Totally cracks me up!
Because the image is so large and in your face, I kept the card very simple. This image really doesn't need anything else, does it? Hee hee!

So the theme of the week here at Pile It On is Sending Happiness - and since the boys are at Grandma's and the house is clean and I have unlimited scrappy time, I am happy and I can share the happiness with all of you! It is a bit too quiet around here, but they did leave me the dog so I have someone to talk to.

We have a fun sponsor this week - Meljen's. This little penguin is just so cute with his little letter. I know he's not quite in focus - the boys took the Playbook with them to Grandma's leaving me with the choice of webcam or camera phone. Once I realized that I could take the webcam off the monitor (duh), things went slightly better, but I'm a total straight edges kind of anal person and the fuzzy image is driving me nuts! How many days until April when I get my new camera? Sigh...

EDITED TO ADD - I have taken another pic with the Playbook, so this is now better. One of my comments mentions soft flowers and I went huh? what flowers? You know your picture is bad when!

Try something new...

Ugh, nothing strikes fear into my little heart like the above words. Try something new...I like my rut thanks very much! However, that was the challenge this week at Fab N Funky. So off to Google I went, looking for techniques that were a) easy, b) cheap and c) preferably do-able with stash I've already got. And voila:

So I found a neat technique on Splitcoast here using acetate and tissue paper to create a sparkly, crystal layer under the acetate. I must say, it turned out quite good for a first attempt, and I might even try this again sometime! I wish I could show you a close up, as it really does look quite pretty, but the Playbook has no macro setting. Boo.

However, DH has bought me a camera, I just don't when I'll get it. I may have to wait for my birthday in April, which is forever away! Hee hee, it was supposed to be a secret, but Best Buy sent home an email congratulating us on our recent purchase and would we please fill out this survey, which really gave it away!

Love is in the air...

Aww, it's almost Valentine's Day, so it only makes sense to have a lovely-dovey challenge to go along with this lovely-doevy holiday. I'm not much of a Valentine's gal, maybe if they did give us the day as a holiday I'd like it better!
However, that's the challenge at Fab N Funky so here's my card, cute huh? I'm more and more into CAS cards, I think you're going to see a bunch more of them around here. I must apologize for the pic though, it was taken with our Playbook tablet. Eldest son knocked my camera off the table while it was on and it is now officially toast. Sob...
The Playbook takes OK pictures, but there's no macro, so they're a little fuzzy. Ah well, I did want a new camera anyway!

A dose of sunshine...

Yup, we need all the sunshine we can get up here in the great white North. We've got a good layer of snow here, and I'm anxiously counting down the days until it starts to melt.

This cheerful card is for a stab at a Guest Designer spot at Paper Smooches. I've been stalking their blog for awhile now and finally decided to take the plunge. I don't have any of their stamps yet (My fave store, Scrapping Great Deals just got some in so that cute little breakfast set will soon be mine!) but they have lots of fun (and free) digis for you to enter with.

And so voila - this card actually turned out better than I thought, which is pretty rare around here! It did take some farting around with the computer to get the sentiment where I wanted it - stamps have a clear advantage there! Patterned paper is Echo Park.

Racin' to go

It's another week here at Pile It on, and we a fun challenge for you - Cards for a Tween! My oldest son is just 9, so he's not quite there yet, but he's not a little kid anymore either and wants to give out 'cool' cards. Hopefully, this will fit!
I used this awesome new paper from the new CTMH catalog, called Cruisin'. I thought it went pretty great with this fun image from the Stamping Boutique. Can't wait to play some more with this paper!

Digital Inspiration

It's a new week and a new challenge at Fab N Funky and the challenge is an easy one - Use a Digi! There are so many wonderful digis out there to choose from, this little bear is an older Stamp Fairy one, isn't he sweet?
I used some new My Mind's Eye paper and a My Favourite Things die. However, no one told me that those pretty swirly die cuts are a pain in the a@@! It took me 5 or 6 goes to realize that I would need a shim to get a clean cut and then I had to stick the thing down - grrr, it's a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Good thing they look good!
