A quick hello

Hi all!  I apologize for falling off the edge of the earth, some everyday life stuff forced me to step back and drop a few things, the old blog being one of them.  I will not be posting much at all in the next little while but I did want to play along with Iwona's 100th sketch challenge.  And I made it (just!)

A sweet as honey bear and some trendy sequins (what do you use to stick those darn things on, what a pain!) for a fun thank you card.
Hope you're all having a great summer!

L for laughs

The new challenge is up at ABC Christmas and it's a choice - L for laugh or less is more.  So go for something funny or something simple, it's up to you.  I went for funny, with my fave funny bunny.

Challenges to follow...

Partied out...

Hey all, how are you?  I'm sitting here watching the hummingbirds dive bomb my feeder - I just love watching these little guys and gals zipping in and out.  One of the Mrs likes to actually sit for a few seconds and I managed to get this shot before she zipped away again.

Of course the birdies on my card look NOTHING like the busy hummingbirds!  I got this fab image at From the Heart digis - if you play along with their challenges you get coupons to spend at the store.  I've been eyeballing these silly birds forever and now they're mine!

Punches and Dies - Totally Papercrafts
Birthdays - Penny's Papercrafty

A little thank you

Well, the mojo is still on vacay, it may have something to do with the super hot weather we've been having here.  I have been poking away at my niece's baby book (she's now 7 months and I've done up to 3) and I made a thank you card for a friend, and that's about it.
I realize this may not look much like a thank you card, but my friend has been invaluable as my weight loss coach/cheerleader and I wanted to thank her for all her help.  This hippo from Pink Petticoat makes me giggle every time.  (PS - Kristi, if you see this here before it hits your mailbox, just pretend to be surprised!)

Keepin' It Safe...

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Whew, being part of a new release week was a bunch of fun, but it was also a fair amount of work and I'm afraid my mojo decided to take a little break when it was over.  I got a bit of a real vacation too, as we took an extra long weekend to visit my family and check out some Toronto attractions.  The boys loved the CN Tower and the Lego Discovery Center, and my oldest declared it the "awesomest" day ever - I'm glad he liked it cause it was an expensive day out!

So now things are back to normal and it's a good thing cause it's time for a new challenge at ABC Christmas Challenges!  This week, the challenge is "kept safe".  Sounds a bit odd, but we just want to see you use something you've been "keeping safe" or hoarding!  Hee hee, I just purged a whole bunch of stuff at a garage sale, but never fear - I have more!  I've had these buttons for pretty much forever, don't know why I haven't used them as they're so cute!

Challenges:
Anything Goes - Crafting By Designs
Use your Scraps - Craft-Room Challenge

Cat's Pajamas New Release Blog Hop!

Well, it's been a super exciting week full of yummy new stamps from the Cat's Pajamas, and now we're having a blog hop to celebrate!  If you've come here from Lori's blog you're in the right place!

For my card, I went back to Day 1 of the Sneaky Peeks and the Life's A Beach bunny.  I found some cool and summery Echo Park papers which went perfectly with this fun bunny and used one of the new tag Cutups to make a surfboard inspired strip.  I paper pieced the umbrella with a striped paper to finish.

Now head over to Wendy's blog to see what fabulous creations she's made!

I've had such a fun week playing along with all the Sneaky Peeks, now I'm off to clean up the mess left over in my craft room!

Sneaky Peek #6

We're coming to the end of the Sneaky Peeks and although this set doesn't feature a bunny, Sprinkles or any penguins it sure is a lot of fun.  A whole bunch of cute speech bubbles with some great sayings to go with and a fab set of Cut Ups as well.  These were so easy to cut and stamp and I couldn't resist being a little silly with my card.  I used the Travellin' Man stamp again, but this time cut the luggage off the roof  for a change.  Now this sounds like my car!

Be sure to check out the Dancing in Pajama's blog for more great cards!

Sneaky Peek #5

Yea, another bunny and his one's going for a ride!  Hee hee, these bunnies never fail to make me smile!  Lots of bling on this one and Stickles on the rocket too.  Be sure to check out the Cat's Pajama's blog for all the details about this new release and to see more of the bunny in action!

Sneaky Peek #3

Eee, another bunny!  This was totally the release for me as I love, love, love the bunny.  This guy's heading out on the open road, ready for adventure.  Not sure how he squishes those ears in his car though!
Still pretty much on a CAS roll, although this time I used my fave travel themed paper.  I'm thinking it needs something though, maybe some bling under the sentiment?  Can't go wrong with bling!

Check out the Cat's Pajamas blog and the Splitcoast threads for more details and to check out the other Sneaky Peeks!

Sneaky Peek #2

It's time for another Sneaky Peek and this one's got claws!  This is my first Cat's Pajama's cat stamp, not sure why I don't have any yet, but now I must get more!  I went super CAS for this card so I could play along with the TCP Tuesday challenge, but added a touch of bling to this cool kitty for fun!

Be sure to check out the Dancing in Pajamas blog and the Splitcoast In It to Win It thread for more details and to see more super sneak peeks!

PS - scroll down for today's ABC Christmas challenge post!

Jingle All the Way

I must be in a super CAS kind of mood cause both of my cards today are very clean and simple.  Hopefully there's enough bling on this one to keep your eyes busy though!  The challenge at ABC Christmas this week is J for Jingle and after combing through all my stamps I have nothing with jingle bells on.  Sigh, guess that means I better go shopping!

PS - scroll up for the Cat's Pajamas Sneaky Peek #2!

Challenges:
White on White - Creative Card Crew (I realize my sentiment is very red, not sure if this counts?)
Let's Sparkle - Deep Ocean
Something that starts with the 1st letter of your name - Holly Jolly Christmas (embossing)

Sneaky Peek #1

Squee!  I'm super excited to be a guest for the new release at Cat's Pajamas!  Today is our first Sneaky Peek, and the bunny is back chilling in the sun.  This laid back bun is doing what I wish I could be doing all through the dreary month of January - lucky rabbit!

Be sure to check out the Dancing in Pajamas blog or the Splitcoasters Sneaky Peek thread to get all the details about the new release.

Yee haw!

Well, it's been a great 4 months, but my time at Oozak is almost up. (wah, sniff!)  So without further moaning and groaning, here's my last card for Oozak, featuring this month's challenge - earthtones.  I used one of my brand new Sparkle Creations stamps - Cowboy Josh and some Simple Stories Take a hike paper.  I am loving the Sparkle stamps, they're so fun and I can't wait to grab some more!

Inspiration photo

Do you ever have a fantastic idea for a card in your head and then make a card that turns out just like your vision?  Well, this is not that card.  I don't know why this card was such a struggle but I can tell you several versions made their way into the bin before I was happy.  This card is for the second week of our inspiration photo challenge at ABC Christmas and here's the inspiration:

And here's my card based on the brightly coloured wreath - love that little Meljen's mouse!

I scream for ice cream

Yep, we're definitely needing the ice cream around here - it's gone from a cold, wintery spring to full on summer in about 2 weeks.  We've been spending lost of time outside for fear it will disappear and get cold and snowy again!  I have managed to sneak a little time in at the craft table, inking up another of my new Whipper Snapper stamps.  A fairly simple card today, I've been stalking, oops sorry, inspired by Jen who combines CAS and super cute images on her cards.  Love them!

Challenges:

Hey, I'm back for another kick at the can for the Whimsey guest DT spot.  I would really, really, really love to be a guest DT and it's late and I can't come up with anything more eloquent than that!  Here's my card using a sweet Wee stamps mermaid.  Not sure how well it shows up, but the bubbles have a glossy layer of liquid glass on them, it look really good IRL!

Spring flowers

Whew, two really quick posts tonight as I have to get ready for tomorrow and get myself to bed.  Our phone and internet went down this morning at 8:00am and didn't come back until almost 7:00pm.  Gah, you don't realize how much you use it till it's gone!
This card is for the Cat's Pajamas 'flower' challenge.  Obviously a big challenge for me as it's taken almost a month to come up with something!  I had to use my first and still fave bunny though - love him!

Helpful bear

Yikes, sorry to be so late with this post - hubby joined Ancestry.com and between him and the kids on Minecraft, I haven't been near the computer.  I think I'm going to have to do some serious bribing to keep my place!
Anyway late as it is, here's my card for the ABC Challenge midweek reminder - Holiday Helpers.  This cute little bear is 'helping' to decorate the tree, and looks suspiciously like my boys when they try and decorate our place.

And now for something completely different...  Just a silly pic to make you smile -  my oldest boy goofing around with our dog.  He makes me shake my head everytime!

The elephant in the room...

OMG, I have been eyeballing Whipper Snapper stamps for so long, and I finally got around to ordering some.  Why oh why did I wait so long?  I love, love, love them, especially this elephant with his teeny balloon!  I used some fun Bobunny Surprise paper, twine (and yes, I know I used twine exactly the same way on my last card but it was perfect for this one!) and a CTMH sentiment.  FYI - the inside of the card reads "wondering what happened!"

Holiday helpers

Hey, it's a new week and a new challenge at ABC Christmas, and our challenge this week is Holiday Helpers.  The first thing that popped into my mind was elves, but I didn't have any elves, so here's a cute pup 'helping' by laying the table for Christmas dinner!  OK, it's a stretch but he's cute anyway!

EDITED TO ADD - I just realized that I'd listed a few challenges, but not linked up to them, duh!  Anyone else ever do that?

Challenges:
Sketch - Sketchbook Saturday
Tag It - Sparkles Christmas Challenge

Anything Goes - Addicted to Stamps and More

A little stinker

I was sorting through my rather ridiculous stash of stamps the other day and realized that I have 4 different skunk stamps.  And I've been eyeballing this sweet set from There She Goes.  Is that too many skunks?  And here I thought I had a bunny addiction!
This skunk is from Your Next Stamp my sister got me for Christmas, but the sentiment is from another set I just bought with a skunk on.  Silly me, I threw out the package and now I have no idea what company it is!  The paper is MME Lime Twist I've been hoarding, and the skunk is 3D paper pieced.

New babies

I have hit the point in my life when I very much enjoy spending time with a baby and then very much enjoy giving it back to it's parents!  My boys are a little older now and I'm not missing the whole diapers-sleepless nights-crying thing.  However, it's still fun to make baby cards, like this one for a co-worker who's waiting for his first baby to arrive.  This stamp from Whipper Snapper is just adorable, and I used the Echo Park Sweet Day paper again cause it had both pink and blue in it.

In the Garden

Hi all,  I'm back again with a stamp you may have seen recently - I won a GDT spot at High Hopes and this stamp fit the garden challenge perfectly so here it is again!  Because it's such a large stamp, I kept my card simple, using some scrap paper from my bin and a tiny little thank you tag.

Challenges:

Cats + dogs - Cupcake Craft Challenges
Spring is in the Air - Pretty Little Ribbon Shop

Girly Girl

Hi all, it's a new challenge at Oozak, and a bit of a doozy for me.  Pearls, lace and ribbon!  So lovely and feminine, so not really my style, so the real challenge is to do it my way.  I picked up some lace doilies at a yard sale to use, and then I used some sweet Echo park paper and my Copics of course to make this clean but girly card.
Please excuse the blue on her hand, I was a bit sloppy when I inked the background and I didn't have time to colour her over!

Other Challenges:
Sketch - Sketchy Friday
Spring Colours - Pink Elephant
Girls - Stamp & Fun = Creativity
Coloured Hair - Songbird Challenge Blog
Anything Goes - Marker Pop
Recipe - Love to Scrap! (1 image, 2 pattern papers, 3 or more layers)

Cluck cluck

Oh how I love me some chickens.  Not the real, smelly, noisy kind but the cute paper crafting kind!  Mind you, the neighbour two houses over has a few real ones that don't seem to be too bad, but I'm pretty sure they don't have balloons!
Using the last of my batch of Penny Black stamps, and I've already started making of list of more...good thing it's my birthday as I will get a little cash to spend!

G is for...

Hey all, it's another week and another new challenge at ABC Christmas Challenge.  This week, the challenge is G is for Guys or Girls.  I decided to use one of may fave gals, Stella from Bugaboo for my card.  She never fails to crack me up.
I'm having problems with my printer though, whenever I print on good paper the ink just sits on top and then flakes off.  (Stella's legs are a bit hairy looking due to the flaky ink!)  Not sure how to fix this, other than a new printer.  If anyone has any tips, please pass them along!

Spring is in the air...

Hey all, I hope you're having a Happy Easter!  This little Lili of the Valley bear is obviously somewhere much warmer than me - the first shoots have just started coming up in my garden, and most of it is still snowed under.  Sigh.  Oh well, it won't be long long now with all the lovely sunshiney days we've been having!
I made this card as a quicky, and I just love how it turned out - so cheerful and fresh.  Here's to hoping my garden looks like this soon!

A huddle of penguins

It's the second week of our Felt/Fabric challenge at ABC Christmas Challenges, and lacking any fabric I stuck with felt.  I kept my card very simple, this image from Lili of the Valley was just was too cute and I wanted to show it off.  I might try and take another photo of it, it looks much better IRL, it's very sparkly!

PS - a "huddle" is a name for a group of penguins - maybe because they all huddle together!

One Crazy Stamper Guest

My last card for One Crazy Stamper was featured yesterday, so I thought I better pop it up here!  I'm on my 5th week of shift work and I still haven't gotten the hang of it yet - one more week after this one and then it'll be back to normal.  And I'll have to come up with a new excuse when my cards go up late, hee hee!

Anyway, I wanted to send an Easter card off to my sister and niece so I grabbed this adorable High Hopes bunny and made a simple card.  I don't usually do Easter cards, but it's Erin's first Easter - can't wait to see pictures oh her with her Easter goodies!

Whimsy Guest DT spot

Super quick post as I'm heading off to work - taking another stab at the guest DT spot for Whimsy stamps.  I just haven't had time to create a new card, so here is one from several week's ago - one of my all times faves though!

Christmas Mice

"Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse."  Hmm, guess the author never spent any time with these mice!  These adorable and busy House Mouse critters are so cute, I couldn't decide which one to use, so I did all three.
The challenge at ABC Christmas Challenges this week is felt or fabric, so I used bright red felt to back my images and some burlap ribbon for the background.  I love, love, love how this card turned out, cute and CAS all rolled into one!

Come join us at ABC Christmas and show us your felt or fabric creations - and don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's fab work!

Challenges:
Ribbons and pearls - House Mouse and Friends (ok, I know it's burlap but it is ribbon!)

A farmyard hello

A quick post as I'm off to cook up some pancakes for dinner. (don't judge, we also do cereal nights around here)  Trying to ink up some of my unused stamps while waiting anxiously for new stuff - what is it about new stamps that makes all my old stuff seem temporarily boring?  Sigh...

Love this Penny Black stamp, but not 100% with the layout, it was a bit of a tough one.  Hopefully both masculine and springy though!

PS - Joy asked about my cloud background on this post, if you want to know how to do it, just Google "distress ink clouds".  Super easy and you can use any ink - I use my CTMH ink with a few paper stencils.

Challenges:
Sketch - Sketchbook Saturday
Spring into Spring - Penny Black Saturday Challenge
For the boys - Penny Black at Allsorts
Masculine - Creative Card Crew
Easter or Spring - Shopping Our Stash

Bingo Midweek

Just over halfway through my month of shiftwork and I'm starting to get used to it, and actually managing to get things (like posting on time) done.  I've actually been quite productive, as evidenced by the number of posts going up on the blog, woo!
This card is for the mid week reminder for ABC Christmas Challenge and it's a BINGO card.  Bingo is always an easy one, and I choose a different line this time, ribbon-blue-glitter.  Can't go wrong with glitter right?

Pop on over to the Challenge blog to see the Bingo board and the rest of the DT's fab work!

Up, up and away

There's a new challenge over at one of my fave blogs - Dancing in Pajamas - and it's neutrals.  Black, white or kraft plus one other colour plus only one patterned paper and 2 layers.  Hmm, that took some thinking.  I played around a bit and his is what I came up with.

Technically, the 'other' colour I choose was blue, but the paper had bits of green in it as well, although I managed to cut most of it out.  I'm not sure the little bear has the happiest expression on his face as he flies over town - perhaps he's afraid his balloons will pop?

EDITED TO ADD - the paper is Basic Grey 'Wander'

Challenges:
Neutrals - Dancing in Pajamas
Happy Birthday - CAS on Sunday
Earth, Air, Fire and/or water - Crafting When We Can (I went with air)
Birthdays - Eclectic Ellapu
Fur or Feathers - The Hybrid Chick

A Spring Thing

It's a new month and a new challenge over at Oozak!  This one is a fun one - Spring anything goes.  Spring for me means flowers and pastel colours so that's the way I went.  I picked this 'Spring Stepping' stamp from Whimsy and went to town colouring and paper piecing it, then added Echo Park Sweet Day papers and some cute banners.  I did find this one a bit tricky to colour as I couldn't decide what bits to make which colour, but I think it turned out pretty sweet.

Be sure to stop by the Oozak blog and play along too, we'd love to see your spring creations! (Although if you look closely at my photo you will see snow in the background, sigh.  Hopefully that will be gone soon!)

Challenges:
Die for Dies - 4 Crafty Chicks
Easter/Spring - C.R.A.F.T Challenge
Spring Fever - Cute Card Thursday
Girls Rule - Dutch Dare
Spring Into Spring - Crafting for all Seasons

Bingo!

Whew, lots of craziness around here - in support of a new computer system at work, I've been working odd shifts and my life is completely out of whack.  Trying to keep on top of things and you know something's gotta give.  (Of course the housework went already!)
Quick post for ABC Christmas Challenges, it's a Bingo week so pop over to the blog to see the Bingo card and play along.  I've used the top row across, not a square-flowers and glitter.  Super fun template from Shape EZ and a cute Stamp Fairy image.

Dreamy Dragon

Hi all!  2 posts in 2 days, don't fall off your chairs in surprise!  This is my second post for One Crazy Stamper, and this is one of my fave cards ever.  It might have something to do with this sweet Whimsy Stamp - Dreamy Dragon that I just got.  I am such a sucker for dragons and this one is soo cute!  I have 3D paper pieced it and added some Stickles for a touch of sparkle.
The stamp seems to be out of stock right now, but I'm sure there will be more soon.  I also used paper from Papermania Happy Days pad and Olba glue and syringes for the paper piecing.

One Crazy Stamper Guest DT

It's Friday, it's Friday, yea!  And to make my Friday better, I'm a guest DT over at One Crazy Stamper this month.  One Crazy Stamper is one of my fave Canadian stores, they have great prices on Copics and a huge selection of stamps among other things.

I chose this cute High Hopes stamp called Spring Birdhouse Garden and then went a little retro with the colours in the MME Boy Crazy Paper.  Although some of the patterns are boy specific, there's lots of pattern's that work well with other images too!  The ribbon and the oval tag are from my stash and if ou look closely, there's a few splashes of Stickles on there too.

Have a great Friday and a Fab weekend!

Anything Goes - Craft Us Crazy
Anything Goes with Ribbon - Crafty Ribbons

Birthday Mice

So mice may not be the first thing you think of when you think 'birthday', but the Lili of the Valley mice are some of my fave stamps.  Lili of the Valley is celebrating their 9th birthday and I've made a birthday card to get in on the fun!

I'm taking advantage of the quiet around here to make a card - the kids are off to school and hubby is off to work.  It seems odd to be sitting at home on a Monday morning, but we're launching a new software system at work and my co-worker and I have been called upon to provide extended coverage.  This week I'm working noon to 8pm and next week I start at 6am!  Not sure how much crafting I will get done, but I plan to squeeze some in!

Challenges:
Birthday Celebrations - Lili of the Valley
Sketch - Retro Sketches (number 15)
Red or Pink - Scrappy Frog
Animals - Allsorts
Polka dots - Cards In Envy (I know the bow is a bit big, but it's squishy and I mail them all the time, no extra postage!)

How I feel about decorating...

Hee hee, this little kitty totally sums up how I feel about decorating.  One of my fave moments was when the boys realized they were old enough to set up and decorate the tree.  So what if the tree leans to one side and there's no decorations above 5 feet?
The challenge at ABC Christmas Challenge this week is a super easy one - use designer paper.  Looking back on my blog, there's very few cards without DP!  This paper is a pad from Fancy Pants along with my cute QKR kitty.

I will enter this into a few challenges tomorrow, right now I've done an hour of aerobics class and then shovelled the driveway so I'm off to bed!

Challenges:
Sketch - Sketchbook Saturday
Anything Goes - Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges

Chalkboard fun

Hi everyone, hope you're having a great weekend!  Hubby has taken the kids to Grandma's for the weekend so I'm making the most of the quiet with some crafty time.  I did manage to take the dog out for a walk, but there were so many snowmobiles on the trails we had to cut it short.  That's OK, more crafty time for me!

I really struggled with the new TCP challenge - to do something new with my stamps. To be honest, I'm a think inside the box kind of person and finding 'new' ways to use my stuff just makes me sweat.  So I thought I'd try a new technique instead.  I tried some water colouring first, but it was too messy - the inside the box me really likes to stay inside the lines too!  Then I thought I'd play around with the chalkboard effect that's so hot right now.  And it turned out great after some practice rounds, good thing I've got lots of time to play!

See? Better and crisper image now.

Slightly late

I apologize for the lateness of this post - we've been having some problems with our internet for awhile now but up until lately they've just been annoying.  Unfortunately, the whole thing went down in flames Tuesday night, taking up to 5 minutes to load a page and crashing repeatedly.  Ugh, it was just like going back to dial up!
New modem installed, I am much happier now - you don't realize how much you do online until it stops!  So here's this week's halfway card for ABC Christmas Challenge - CASE the card.  I chose to CASE Lacey's cute card, I love this sweet and simple quilted background.
