Make It Crafty Bloghop - Christmas Edition

Hi everyone and welcome to the Christmas edition of the Make It Crafty Blog Hop.  Christmas is coming and that's what we're featuring so jump on in!

If you've arrived from Cyndy's Blog you are on the right track, but don't worry, this is a circular hop so you can start anywhere.  If you get lost, jump on over to Julie's blog for a list of participating consultants.

I wasn't really in the mood for Christmas yet and wasn't sure what to make, but funny enough, my husband inspired this project!  Hubby really wanted a Lindt Advent calendar this year.  They're only $25 bucks he says.  However, my boys wouldn't go for a $1.99 special while Dad got the good stuff and I was darn sure I wasn't spending $75 on chocolate so I decided to make one instead.  This way they can have Lindt some days plus other goodies as well!

To make the box/calendar I used this tutorial here.  I had to adjust the sizes slightly as the drawers were not quite high enough for the loot - I used 6" squares instead of 4".  Then I sewed a piece of page protector to the easel to make a pocket for the Picture my Life White Pines cards which just happened to have a full December countdown on them.  Score!  Then I used White Pines paper and Complements to decorate.  I think it turned out great!

PS - Half the White Pines Cards are 4x6 and half are 3x4.  I thought the smaller cards looked a little lonely in the pocket, so I just backed them with a contrasting 4x6 card.

Thank you so much for following along on our blog hop today, I hope you enjoyed all the fantastic artwork.  Now it's time to head over to Julie's blog and check out her fabulous work.  And be sure to drop in in the New Year for another fun hop!

Make It Crafty Fall Blog Hop

Welcome to the Make It Crafty Blog Hop!

If you’ve arrived from Lisa's blog, you are on the right path!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost, you'll find the complete list of participating consultants' here at Julie's blog.
This month we have a number of Close To My Heart consultants showcasing Fall, Thanksgiving and Halloween creations so let's jump right in!

It's super easy to create a wash of colour with our new watercolours so I made few different ones for backgrounds and then embossed over them with gold embossing powder.  I used A Season of Thanks stamp in the first fall card and Charming Cascades (loove this one) on the blue card.  A couple scraps of ribbon and a fun sentiment make for some easy cards!

Thanks so much for hopping along on our blog hop today, I hope you enjoyed all the artwork.  Now it's time to head to Pam's blog and see her fabulous take on our theme.
And don't forget to stay tuned for our upcoming Christmas hop - I can't wait!

Make It Crafty Blog Hop

Hey all, welcome back to another Make It Crafty blog Hop.  This time we're featuring Valentine, Birthday and Thank You cards.  I rarely make Valentine's cards so I made a cute birthday set, but before I show you the photos, let's get to the hop details.

If you’ve arrive from Diana's blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants here on Julie's blog.  Now on to the photos!

I made this super cute birthday set using the Confetti Wishes paper pack and the uber adorable Hoppy Birthday set (plus some retired buttons and twine from my stash and some homemade candy dots).  The images are coloured with Copics.
This set is one of several that were originally designed for our Australian and New Zealand friends but are available to everyone because they're just so fun.  I started with a birthday card:
and then made a matching tag and wrapping paper.  If you're never made your own wrapping paper before it's super easy and a great way to customize a gift.  Grab some kraft wrapping paper at the dollar store and start stamping!  Here's a close up of the paper before I wrapped the gift:
and the wrapped present:
You can find lots of tutorials on random stamping online, but in a nutshell you start with your largest image and stamp in a triangular pattern.  Switch colours and images and keep going.  Fill in with smaller images.  It works best with at least 3 images.  Play around, experiment and have fun!
Lastly, I have my tag, but it turned out a bit bigger than my present so I might just save it to add to a card front or for another present later.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my work, hope you enjoyed it.  Next up is Lisa's blog!

Make It Crafty Christmas and Winter Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to the Make It Crafty Seasonal Blog Hop.  If you've come from Wendy's blog, you are on the right track, but if you want to start at the beginning, jump to Julie's blog!  This time around we will be featuring Christmas and winter creations so let's jump right in!

I don't have a lot of the Christmas and winter sets from the new Idea Book as I have soo many wonderful older sets, but I do have this super cute set of Christmas houses and buildings.  I found a sweet stair step card on Pinterest done with SU stamps and knew right away I wanted to create my own version of it.

I coloured all my buildings with the same neutral colours to give my village a uniform feel and then added a sprinkling of Stickles to the roofs for that snowy look.  You can find templates for stair step cards all over the internet, I used a basic center stair step design for mine.  I used some of the Yuletide Carol paper for the background and some older stamps for the sentiment.  Quick note - make sure you stamp and emboss the sentiment before you glue everything down, as you can see my sentiment is a little blobby!   I love how this turned out, now I just have to decide who's going to get this fab card for Christmas!

Now jump on over to Cyndy's blog to see what Christmas treats she has in store for you!  Merry Christmas everyone!

Back from the Dead

Geez, it's been so long I really had to think about how to do this...I'm not really back though, I unfortunately don't have the time and energy any more to keep up my poor bloggy.

However, I've been wanting to play along with the Two Scrapbook friends challenge, I visit their store whenever I'm in Waterloo.  I simplified their sketch a bit, I didn't want to overwhelm my small card.  I did add the 'die cut' for the Crafty challenge though, I actually dug out a center of the page punch and have now remembered why I bought it - it's so pretty!

Paper is Echo Park Bundle of Joy Boy and stamp is a Rachel Anne Miller from Kraftin' Kimmie so i'm playing along with the Kraftin' Kimmie challenge, Spring Colours.

A quick hello

Hi all!  I apologize for falling off the edge of the earth, some everyday life stuff forced me to step back and drop a few things, the old blog being one of them.  I will not be posting much at all in the next little while but I did want to play along with Iwona's 100th sketch challenge.  And I made it (just!)

A sweet as honey bear and some trendy sequins (what do you use to stick those darn things on, what a pain!) for a fun thank you card.
Hope you're all having a great summer!

L for laughs

The new challenge is up at ABC Christmas and it's a choice - L for laugh or less is more.  So go for something funny or something simple, it's up to you.  I went for funny, with my fave funny bunny.

Partied out...

Hey all, how are you?  I'm sitting here watching the hummingbirds dive bomb my feeder - I just love watching these little guys and gals zipping in and out.  One of the Mrs likes to actually sit for a few seconds and I managed to get this shot before she zipped away again.

Of course the birdies on my card look NOTHING like the busy hummingbirds!  I got this fab image at From the Heart digis - if you play along with their challenges you get coupons to spend at the store.  I've been eyeballing these silly birds forever and now they're mine!

A little thank you

Well, the mojo is still on vacay, it may have something to do with the super hot weather we've been having here.  I have been poking away at my niece's baby book (she's now 7 months and I've done up to 3) and I made a thank you card for a friend, and that's about it.
I realize this may not look much like a thank you card, but my friend has been invaluable as my weight loss coach/cheerleader and I wanted to thank her for all her help.  This hippo from Pink Petticoat makes me giggle every time.  (PS - Kristi, if you see this here before it hits your mailbox, just pretend to be surprised!)

Keepin' It Safe...

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Whew, being part of a new release week was a bunch of fun, but it was also a fair amount of work and I'm afraid my mojo decided to take a little break when it was over.  I got a bit of a real vacation too, as we took an extra long weekend to visit my family and check out some Toronto attractions.  The boys loved the CN Tower and the Lego Discovery Center, and my oldest declared it the "awesomest" day ever - I'm glad he liked it cause it was an expensive day out!

So now things are back to normal and it's a good thing cause it's time for a new challenge at ABC Christmas Challenges!  This week, the challenge is "kept safe".  Sounds a bit odd, but we just want to see you use something you've been "keeping safe" or hoarding!  Hee hee, I just purged a whole bunch of stuff at a garage sale, but never fear - I have more!  I've had these buttons for pretty much forever, don't know why I haven't used them as they're so cute!

Cat's Pajamas New Release Blog Hop!

Well, it's been a super exciting week full of yummy new stamps from the Cat's Pajamas, and now we're having a blog hop to celebrate!  If you've come here from Lori's blog you're in the right place!

For my card, I went back to Day 1 of the Sneaky Peeks and the Life's A Beach bunny.  I found some cool and summery Echo Park papers which went perfectly with this fun bunny and used one of the new tag Cutups to make a surfboard inspired strip.  I paper pieced the umbrella with a striped paper to finish.

Now head over to Wendy's blog to see what fabulous creations she's made!
I've had such a fun week playing along with all the Sneaky Peeks, now I'm off to clean up the mess left over in my craft room!

Sneaky Peek #6

We're coming to the end of the Sneaky Peeks and although this set doesn't feature a bunny, Sprinkles or any penguins it sure is a lot of fun.  A whole bunch of cute speech bubbles with some great sayings to go with and a fab set of Cut Ups as well.  These were so easy to cut and stamp and I couldn't resist being a little silly with my card.  I used the Travellin' Man stamp again, but this time cut the luggage off the roof  for a change.  Now this sounds like my car!

Be sure to check out the Dancing in Pajama's blog for more great cards!

Sneaky Peek #5

Yea, another bunny and his one's going for a ride!  Hee hee, these bunnies never fail to make me smile!  Lots of bling on this one and Stickles on the rocket too.  Be sure to check out the Cat's Pajama's blog for all the details about this new release and to see more of the bunny in action!

Sneaky Peek #3

Eee, another bunny!  This was totally the release for me as I love, love, love the bunny.  This guy's heading out on the open road, ready for adventure.  Not sure how he squishes those ears in his car though!
Still pretty much on a CAS roll, although this time I used my fave travel themed paper.  I'm thinking it needs something though, maybe some bling under the sentiment?  Can't go wrong with bling!

Check out the Cat's Pajamas blog and the Splitcoast threads for more details and to check out the other Sneaky Peeks!

Sneaky Peek #2

It's time for another Sneaky Peek and this one's got claws!  This is my first Cat's Pajama's cat stamp, not sure why I don't have any yet, but now I must get more!  I went super CAS for this card so I could play along with the TCP Tuesday challenge, but added a touch of bling to this cool kitty for fun!

Be sure to check out the Dancing in Pajamas blog and the Splitcoast In It to Win It thread for more details and to see more super sneak peeks!
